Sandcastle is a water park located in the Pittsburgh suburb of West Homestead. The park is located on a 67acre piece of land along the banks of the Monongahela River. Sandcastle is owned by Parques Reunidos, who purchased Kennywood Entertainment. The company runs its original sister parks, Kennywood, Idlewild Park, and Lake Compounce. The park contains fourteen water slides, several swimming pools, and a handful of other attractions.HistoryThe site where Sandcastle currently sits was formerly a railroad yard for U.S. Steel. In 1988, Kennywood Entertainment bought the land and began construction on the park. Sandcastle officially opened for business in July 1989. The park was originally supposed to be called Splashdown, however park executives decided on Sandcastle.Current AttractionsThe park has a total of 14 water slides including 3 speed slides. Other slides include the Blue Tooba Looba (which replaced Bermuda Triangle, the only closed slide in the park), Thunder Run, Tubers Tower and Cliffhangers. Other attractions at Sandcastle include a "lazy river," a large swimming pool, Mon-Tsunami, a wave pool, a hot tub and an area of water slides and water attractions designed specifically for children called Wet Willies. The park also features an entertainment complex called The Sandbar and a marina. In January 2007, the Chevrolet Amphitheatre, formerly known as the IC Light Amphitheatre, under plans by concert promoter Live Nation, was disassembled. According to new design plans, the new amphitheater will rest between Sandcastle's west perimeter and the Waterfront section of Homestead Borough along the Monongahela River. Sandcastle already had an existing amphitheatre on the property, but was outdated and was seldom used.To visit Sandcastle Water Park and get the most from your holiday in Homestead, create itinerary details personal to you using our Homestead online travel route planner .

Sandcastle Water Park Reviews
Went to Sandcastle with family and our two young kids (5 & 3). The park is large enough and they keep the lines moving so no slide was a long wait at all. Some of the slides are starting to show their... more »
I have never heard of this park before until a commercial came up on TV. They have plenty of slides that are pretty fun. The food is pretty nice but a little pricey. We rented a locker and it wasn't t... more »
I haven't been to Sandcastle in probably 15 years. When I did visit Sandcastle 15 years ago it was beautiful and a lot of fun. So I visited this July. WOW. Terrible! In need of severe weed eating and ... more »
Just needs a few more waterslides. Great place for children in the kitty pool areas. Need something different to walk on on the boardwalk, feet got pinched in between the boards when walking on them. Overall a cool place to be located.
It's a good place for the whole family! I felt a little bit bad for my five year old, he's sort of between the kiddie things and all the slides (in interest and height). Also, the best kiddie area (Wet Willie's) is pretty removed from everything else, so that can make logistics a little challenging when your 10 year old wants to do all the slides. It is a really fun day for either really little kids or bigger (late elementary and up) kids but is lacking in options for kids in between those categories.
Fun place, enjoyable waterslides. The huge vertical drop slide is a rush! Lines for waterslides were good/average when I went. Wave pool was pretty packed however. Good time!
Kids really enjoyed themselves. Only issue is that if you weigh over 2t0 there aren't very many slide you can get on safely a d alone.
Fun place to spend an afternoon. Pretty much nothing but teenagers working there and they're not always friendly.
