Enjoy the lush trees and water at Sea Pines Forest Preserve, a sacred site for Native American tribes. An ancient shell ring that is thought to have ceremonial significance is still visible on the site of a former Native American village. Stroll the boardwalks and bridges over wetlands. Take in Hilton Head from above at the observation decks. If you like to fish, drive Fish Island trail to the center of the preserve, where you'll find man-made lakes. Learn more about the preserve with the help of a guide on a bicycle or with a bird-watching tour. A vacation package that includes lodging and activities at a discount is available on the website. • Preserve was easy hike and plenty to see, but you will need bug spray and bring water as it can be very humid.
  • We greatly enjoyed our scenic walk in the preserve - spotted an alligator in the lagoon which was great fun. Very shaded and a nice getaway from the hot sun.
  • Lots of birds and alligators. Make sure you take the driving path through the woods. It has lots of beautiful views.
