  • The museum is full of history and is very well presented. I also liked the art gallery exhibit. Plan to spend a few hours both indoors and outdoors exploring this attraction.
  • The museum give a wonderful overview of how things were in the days of slavery and the civil war. Everything is very well done and there is a lot of historical information.
  • The Coastal Discovery Museum was one of my favorite activities during our trip to Hilton Head. My favorite part of the trip was the self guided tour that you can take on the grounds. It provides a nice walk includes beautiful trees, marshes, a butterfly enclosure, boardwalks, interesting plants, and an old cemetery. The kids that were a part of our group were most excited about the "Meet and Greet" (only on certain days, check their calendar) where they got to interact with snakes, chickens, a horned lizard, bunnies, and some gators. They also liked seeing the horses on the property. The inside part of the museum didn't hold their attention or ours. There was a little shop and some exhibits but we came for the outdoors stuff. If the indoor exhibits were better this would be a 5/5 rated place!
  • I really loved the discovery museum, and not only because it's free, but because its relatively small exhibition, was very informative and well organized, it tells the history of the island, including the gulla's connection, the families who lived here, and some stuff on nature as well like the sea turtles on the island... I would totally suggest this museum to history and nature lovers, and it doesn't hurt to strike a conversation with one of the volunteers on site, they know so much about the island... And even helped me with food choices.
  • A beautiful place with great history and art. Don't miss Joe Moffo's alligators, snakes and lizards. Where else can you hold an alligator while draped with a real snake boa? Lots of tours originate here and classes! Its our crown jewel.
  • It was free which is a good start. Best part for the kids was the butterflies and checking out crabs on the docks. Other than that not too much to see but enough to spend an hour or so walking around.
  • Our issues with this place were due to the other patrons being rude. Overall it was a great learning experience about the local area.
