We visit Duke Farms 4-6 times a year. A wonderful place to walk, bike, bird watch, appreciate the nature, or admire the orchids atrium. It is located within NJ! For all ages.
We thoroughly enjoyed Duke Farms. The property is beautiful. The waterfalls, the orchid garden, the list goes on. You can walk, tram or bike around the property. If you enjoy the outdoors, or are a na... read more »
What a great place. I know it mostly because I enjoy birding. I have seen some great birds and always walk away with more than expected. The park does not open until 8, which is kind of a bummer in terms of dawn calls, and bird activity, but overall it's a great place. I love what they are doing there, creating different habitats. Easy to walk, concrete trails, and enough walking to keep you going for around 5 hours even with a steady pace.
It is a great place for a summer weekend. There are long beautiful nature walkways. There is a free tram which runs every half an hour and stops at main spots. It is very convenient for family with kids or seniors to hop-on hop-off and still visit the whole farm. The best part about the farm is huge orchard garden. You will appreciate the large verity of orchard with beautiful tropical setup.
Very nice grounds, all free. Years ago they required very spending tickets. If you like orchids, do not miss the Orchid House stop on the free trolly. Lots of bike trails and even bike rentals.
We had an amazing time here and so did the kids. One day is not enough as there are so many activities and things to see, do and enjoy, especially during the summer when they have programs. The botanical garden is also beautiful. This place is superb. The staff are very kind and helpful. I also don't understand how can anyone rate this place lower than a 5 considering you get all this for kids and family for free!
Doris Duke would be very pleased that the home she loved has become an oasis for people to enjoy. This place was very dear to her heart and perhaps she is looking down from heaven and smile.
