  • Hubby and darling daughter are both big car fans. Me not so much, so when they suggested going to the Gilmore Car Museum, I wasn't exactly thrilled. I should have been. This place is fabulous. It's ki...  more »
  • I walked away from this place in awe. It’s amazing to see car after car on display in mint condition. It’s kind of cool how it’s separated by style, design, era. Plus some touring exhibits too. There ...  more »
  • This museum is a step above other car museums I have visited. They have just the right amount of cars in each exhibit, they stage them well, no ropes, and a nice bit of history about each one. Each ro...  more »

  • All I can really say is WOW. I remember going to this museum about 30 years ago when I was a teenager to attend a car show with a friend. The place stuck with me and I always wanted to return. Boy am I glad I did. They have really made this a world class attraction. Due to the time of the year we were only able to see about half of the cars they have but even that was a good 3 hours to just browse. They truly have some of the nicest examples of every generation of auto you can find anywhere. Staff was super nice and informative and while you cannot touch the vehicles you can get right up to them with no barriers and look in side. I will be going back to see this again when the barns and all displays are open. Not the cheapest museum not the most expensive, but they really use the funds well. Clean, well kept facilities and a setting to be remembered.
  • The Gilmore Car Museum is a place that gives you a chance to take many pictures. The Gilmore Car Museum made me think that our cars now have come a long way it wasn't just something that just randomly popped into someone's brain. It was something that evolved. I liked the stories that went with each and every single car. Just to think that at one point we didn't have a steering wheel, we had a lever. At one point we couldn't just hop into cars and know what most things are and start cruising it around, you had to read a manual because it was just THAT COMPLICATED. If you tried to go somewhere, at one point you could potentially get hurt because people didn't know what a car was and what it did. I enjoyed the museum and everything in it.
  • Very fun place to visit, even for someone like me who's not a super fanatic. Lots of interesting exhibits, especially loved the pedal car barn and the Checker cab barn. The motorcycle barn is pretty cool too. The diner has great food and excellent service. The Shell station is pretty neat too.
  • The winter entrance is $14 and well worth it! I missed the open engine hood weekend by one week and they only do it once a year. Darn! Plan your trip in advance as you'll need a driving map (gps) if you aren't familiar with the area. The weekend supervisor Dave is very knowledgeable and you can tell an all around nice guy. Plan to stay almost an entire day if this is your first visit. Lots to read and discover. Bob Seger's old '65 Mustang is here on loan from its current owners. Read about the wrong fly wheel installed by Ford that made Bob sell this beauty due to uncontrollable shaking! Way to go Ford! Fix. Or. Repair. Daily. The food is good and the staff is top notch. I am starting a campaign to make Jay Leno regret not visiting this gem of a car museum. Your loss Jay!
  • Sleeper hit. A stunning collection of historic vehicles. You know this place has the goods when The Henry Ford has actually _lent_ vehicles to the Gilmore. Just you wait - this destination will explode in popularity in the next decade.
