Tröegs Brewing Company, Hershey

#2 of 19 in Breweries in Pennsylvania
Tröegs is an American brewery located on Hersheypark Drive in Hershey, Pennsylvania. John and Chris Trogner founded the company in 1996. Tröegs is a craft-brewery, or microbrewery focusing their production on specialty and seasonal beers. Tröegs also is a limited distribution brewery, only distributing beer to states within proximity to maintain beer freshness.HistoryTröegs Brewery was founded in 1996 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by brothers John (born 1972) and Chris Trogner (born 1973). The name Tröegs is a combination of a nickname derived from the surname Trogner and the Dutch word kroeg ("pub"). The brewery was originally located at 800 Paxton Street in Harrisburg. Their first keg was sold to a Harrisburg restaurant in July, 1997.Tröegs began construction of their new brewery in 2010 and moved from Harrisburg to Hershey in fall 2011. Grand opening celebrations were held during November of that year. At approximately 90,000 square feet the new brewery is about three times the size of the original facility and includes a tap house (tasting room) with a full view of the brewhouse. The tap house bar serves most beer by the glass, although a select few, including "corked-and-caged" beers, are sold by the bottle. Most of Tröeg's beers are available "to go"—as 4-packs, 6-packs, cases, growlers, and, most recently, as "crowlers" (32-ounce aluminum cans filled from a tap and then sealed; a portmanteau of "can" and "growler"). However, a few bottled beers have been available for consumption only in the tap room. The tap room also features an upscale "snack bar."

6/3/2017 (Saturday around 4pm): THEY ARE CURRENTLY UPDATING THEIR PARKING! Many of the 1-star ratings are due to people having difficulties during the arrival and departure process. The in-between period of time where the customers are actually at Tröegs, they have a 5-star experience. You can't go wrong with their beer and German/Dutch style foods. I'm a single 20-something and this is the perfect spot to try a couple different style beers with some friends. I'm not sure why people with young children hear "microbrewery" and rate it 1-star for not being kid-friendly. The Tröegs brothers do an excellent job of providing exactly what they are known for- great beer.

Very good beer selection. Good selection of pub/bar food, with a different variety than a lot of places. Staff was friendly and helpful. Self paced and guided tours. Nice gift shop. One of the better breweries I have visited.

If you're reading this, you're probably thinking of coming here. If you've had their beers, you know all you need to know. Absolutely fantastic beers, representative of many different styles. You'll find stuff on tap here that's not distributed and get some great styles that are spot on. I would uber there if you're able to because you'll want to try A LOT. I wasn't as much of a fan on the food side as I prefer the bar food. Beer is best with wings but alas no wings. Popcorn, pretzels, and fries are all well and good but who the hell goes to a brewery and orders a cheese plate? Anyway, that doesn't take away from it. The beers are great and it's definitely a destination to visit! Oh and the prices are great too. I can't remember exactly how much but my growler fill was RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP!

Amazing beer! Delicious gourmet local food! And friendly atmosphere! What more can you ask for? Except maybe a shuttle to the Park? But still a five!!

Great upscale pub grub along with self guided or scheduled tours. Large amount of beers on tap and bottle to experience several brews they offer. Highly recommend the troegswurst!!
