Tröegs Brewing Company, Hershey
(4.6/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Tröegs is an American brewery located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. John and Chris Trogner founded the company in 1996. Tröegs is a craft-brewery, or microbrewery focusing their production on specialty and seasonal beers. Tröegs also is a limited distribution brewery, only distributing beer to states within proximity to maintain beer freshness.HistoryTröegs Brewery was founded in 1996 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by brothers John (born 1972) and Chris Trogner (born 1973). The name Tröegs is a combination of a nickname derived from the surname Trogner and the Dutch word kroeg ("pub"). The brewery was originally located at 800 Paxton Street in Harrisburg. Their first keg was sold to a Harrisburg restaurant in July, 1997.Tröegs began construction of their new brewery in 2010 and moved from Harrisburg to Hershey in fall 2011. Grand opening celebrations were held during November of that year. At approximately 90,000 square feet the new brewery is about three times the size of the original facility and includes a tap house (tasting room) with a full view of the brewhouse. The tap house bar serves beer by the glass and by the growler. While most of Tröeg's beers are available "to go" (as 4-packs, 6-packs, cases, or growlers), a few have been available for consumption only in the tap room. The tap room also features an upscale "snack bar."The Harrisburg location has been decommissioned.Every year, Tröegs sponsors the Harrisburg Brewers Fest with proceeds benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Held every year along Locust and 3rd Streets in downtown Harrisburg, the festival features live music, food and beer samples from over 35 breweries.

  • Great PA brewery with a variety of beers. Trying Mango IPA, Solid Sender and Blizzard of Hops. They not only serve beer, but you can enjoy food and either a guided tour or self guided tour.

  • I was in Hershey this past weekend to see the lights display and while researching things to do, this brewery tour came up. I would highly recommend going, it is only $5 a person for a 45 minute tour ...  more »

  • Massive taproom with lots of new and rotating taps. Snack bar is focused on fresh, local and seasonal dishes, some are rather unique! Open seating so grab the first table you see! 'Walking bartenders' can get you drinks at a table, but the food is concession style meaning you order and pick up yourself. Can get rather busy during peak hours, but be patient and talk to the extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff to grab a pint. Overall one of the best breweries in PA means this is a must-stop destination. Just look at all of these great reviews!
  • Took the $5 guided tour and was pleasantly surprised. Tour was awesome... tasted the malt, tried several different beers, and got a free pint glass at the end. Restaurant was excellent as well. I was amazed at the quality of food. Prices were reasonable and all the staff were great.
  • This is my favorite brewery. Yes, parking is very limited and can be difficult/impossible during peak times. Yes, the seating area in the tasting room can be packed and hard to find a seat. But that just means that they are doing something right to keep people swarming here, no? And, as others have said, if you go to the self guided tour area there are usually plenty of empty seats with servers. The food is great. The staff is helpful and friendly. And the beer is excellent. It is also very inexpensive. Growler fills are cheap, and they sell nice German growlers for 1/2 the price that you can find them elsewhere. The new splinter cellar is a nice addition and is also where they start the guided tours now. All in all a great place.
  • Troegs is an amazing brewery. Great beers, great food, and an amazing location. Definitely sign up for a beer tour in advance. They are five bucks and comes with a tasting. Also try the hop fries! They are amazing. You can also bring a growler or get a crowler! Don't forget to stop in the store as well. Parking can be an issue so make sure you arrive at an off peak time.
  • Troegs is such a great brewery. I love how they have their food set up as an order and pick up on your own. The food was great and the grilled cheese was HUGE. During peak hours, parking can be a bit difficult, but it is definitely worth it. We had no issue finding a seat at the bar, and were able to enjoy great beers from one of our favorite breweries!
