Tröegs Brewing Company, Hershey
Categories: Breweries, Food & Drink
Tröegs is an American brewery located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. John and Chris Trogner founded the company in 1996. Tröegs is a craft-brewery, or microbrewery focusing their production on specialty and seasonal beers. Tröegs also is a limited distribution brewery, only distributing beer to states within proximity to maintain beer freshness.HistoryTröegs Brewery was founded in 1996 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by brothers John (born 1972) and Chris Trogner (born 1973). The name Tröegs is a combination of a nickname derived from the surname Trogner and the Dutch word kroeg ("pub"). The brewery was originally located at 800 Paxton Street in Harrisburg. Their first keg was sold to a Harrisburg restaurant in July, 1997.Tröegs began construction of their new brewery in 2010 and moved from Harrisburg to Hershey in fall 2011. Grand opening celebrations were held during November of that year. At approximately 90,000 square feet the new brewery is about three times the size of the original facility and includes a tap house (tasting room) with a full view of the brewhouse. The tap house bar serves beer by the glass and by the growler. While most of Tröeg's beers are available "to go" (as 4-packs, 6-packs, cases, or growlers), a few have been available for consumption only in the tap room. The tap room also features an upscale "snack bar."The Harrisburg location has been decommissioned.Every year, Tröegs sponsors the Harrisburg Brewers Fest with proceeds benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Held every year along Locust and 3rd Streets in downtown Harrisburg, the festival features live music, food and beer samples from over 35 breweries.Add Tröegs Brewing Company and other attractions to your Hershey trip itinerary using our Hershey vacation generator.

This is my favorite brewery. Yes, parking is very limited and can be difficult/impossible during peak times. Yes, the seating area in the tasting room can be packed and hard to find a seat. But that just means that they are doing something right to keep people swarming here, no? And, as others have said, if you go to the self guided tour area there are usually plenty of empty seats with servers. The food is great. The staff is helpful and friendly. And the beer is excellent. It is also very inexpensive. Growler fills are cheap, and they sell nice German growlers for 1/2 the price that you can find them elsewhere. The new splinter cellar is a nice addition and is also where they start the guided tours now. All in all a great place.

The boys (as in the husbands)loved the flight selection and dug that they could be in a brewery and have the kids and wives with them for dinner. It's a cool spot, beers are great, food options stellar but everyone felt the taste was ok. Worth visiting and just ask questions to figure out the ordering system. cheers!
Tröegs Brewing Company Tasting Room and Snack Bar is not-to-be-missed gem if you're a fan of quality beer visiting the Hershey area. The brewery tour is a quick little self guided affair that culminates in the gift shop where you can purchase Tröegs merchandise and beers. While fun, the bar and snack bar are the real starts off the show. The bar servers both the typical selection Tröegs beer as well as their limited edition/small run batches. You can purchase them as individual glasses, as part of a tasting, or in growlers. The snack bar is done cafeteria style, and has a great seasonal menu. Oh, and they have excellent desserts! We're gone back twice to get another taste of their mint chocolate crème brûlée.
At troegs, I expected good beer. I was presently surprised by the amazing food and a great tour experience. They have really good flat bread, brisket and slaw, lamb, and chilly cheese fries. The tour was interesting with drinks along the way and a nice glass. If recommend it.
Unique place, awesome bar food, menu constantly changes with new selections which keeps me and others coming back for more. Their beers are legendary, I love the Dream Weaver wheat, I am not a fan of IPA's but others go bat feces crazy over them especially the Nugget Nectar. The operations here are a bit unorthodox however, you pick your own seat if you want a beer server you can get one but tou gotta order your own food and go pick it up at the counter.
