Stone Hill Winery, Hermann

(4.1/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Tour and taste in the largest winery in the state during your visit to Stone Hill Winery. Learn about the wine, as well as the history of the winery itself. Enjoy the rustic setting of the German heritage town and building, as well as the views of the surrounding hills as you wander about. Live music is often available in the afternoons. Be sure to take note of seasonal events if you don't (or do) want to be in a crowd. Children are welcome, too--but their tastes will be grape juice, not wine. • Tour is extensive and entertaining! You get a tasting afterwards with a very knowledgeable employee. They even have a restaurant with good food and reasonable prices!

  • I loved to setting, and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable. Large building with a restaurant. We chose not to eat but just a wine taste. I would think that a establishment of this size would be able to have tastings for free, as most of the small places we visited in the area are free. Otherwise very nice.
  • Did the tour during October Fest. The tour guide was fun, informative and very knowledgeable. He had a great sense of humor. The restaurant was really cute built in the old stable....food was pretty tasty! Really enjoyed the tasting.
  • This is an amazing view of Hermann, the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the history of Hermann. In 1965 this was the first Missouri Winery that sparked the growth of wine in Missouri. If you are going to Hermann this is wonderful place for a great group photo too:) Cheers, Chris K.
  • The staff was very friendly. I didn't like the charge for tasting wine. I was planning on buying a case, but did not due to not wanting to buy a wine from a winery without a taste. The tasting costs, even for one , what appeared to be a half ounce pour, was the norm for the area. There seemed to be a disconnect from the staff to the wine makers, since they were the only able to answer the most basic questions, and did not offer to find out the info that I was seeking out. I've done the tour several times in the past, and it was very interesting and guides kept us entertained. The wine I did taste good (mostly the Vignolles and its variants), though I am far from a wine connoisseur. I've been visiting Stone Hill since the early 90s. I'm happy to see its growth and will definitely return for further visits.
  • We did the cellar tour and wine tasting both were very good. The cellars were pretty interesting to hear the history of the plane. Definitely worth a couple hour visit if you are in the area.
