Categories: Wineries & Vineyards, Food & Drink
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web
Tour and taste in the largest winery in the state during your visit to Stone Hill Winery. Learn about the wine, as well as the history of the winery itself. Enjoy the rustic setting of the German heritage town and building, as well as the views of the surrounding hills as you wander about. Live music is often available in the afternoons. Be sure to take note of seasonal events if you don't (or do) want to be in a crowd. Children are welcome, too--but their tastes will be grape juice, not wine. • We arrived at Stone Hill before they opened as we planned our trip for a weekend that turned out to be Octoberfest in Hermann. We wanted to beat the crowd and get the first tour of the day. We did get...  read more »

  • We purposed to visit this winery, but happened to come on Oktoberfest weekend, an extremely busy time. Even though it was absolutely mobbed, we were able to get into the next tour and didn't have to w...  read more »
  • The staff was very friendly. I didn't like the charge for tasting wine. I was planning on buying a case, but did not due to not wanting to buy a wine from a winery without a taste. The tasting costs, even for one , what appeared to be a half ounce pour, was the norm for the area. There seemed to be a disconnect from the staff to the wine makers, since they were the only able to answer the most basic questions, and did not offer to find out the info that I was seeking out. I've done the tour several times in the past, and it was very interesting and guides kept us entertained. The wine I did taste good (mostly the Vignolles and its variants), though I am far from a wine connoisseur. I've been visiting Stone Hill since the early 90s. I'm happy to see its growth and will definitely return for further visits.
  • We just did the tasting, which was nice. They also happened to be having a Cajun festival the same day, so we checked out the live music. Although we didn't do the cellar tour, we will definitely check it out next time. Oh, and beautiful view!
  • We ended up here towards the end of our Hermann tour and it was hopping. The Cajun Festival looked fun with live music and dancing. They have lots of events like this so be sure to check the schedule. Three tasting rooms and a complimentary tour. We didn't do the tour but the tasting was good.
  • Beautiful setting. The stone building has a lot of history, nice gift shop, and great wine and food. Take the tour and tasting. Worth it!!
  • We did the cellar tour and wine tasting both were very good. The cellars were pretty interesting to hear the history of the plane. Definitely worth a couple hour visit if you are in the area.
