  • Good hills to climb, and best bicycle trail to avoid cars on a bicycle ride in the Vegas Valley. I am a slow rider and this 34 mile trail takes me 3.5 - 4.5 hours to circle with one or two rest stops after.during the climb from the Lake Mead beach to Bootleg Canyon Summit on the converted railroad path section. Or a good 50 mile ride from the M Resort Spa Casino on the Henderson's trail, Union Pacific Trail and interconnecting with the River Mountains Loop trail connection to Boulder City and return. Good way to avoid car and truck traffic while riding your bicycle.
  • What a gem! We love to walk and this loop offers everything. You can walk on the 35 mile paved loop or wander onto the miles of dirt trails. Check out the website and print the map to see where there is water, restrooms, park ranger stations, parking lots etc. for the section you choose to walk. You'll see hikers, bikers and horseback riders and everyone is nice and respect each others hobby. There are amazing views of the valley and Lake Mead. And there is lots of wildlife to look out for. We were lucky to see coyote and quail on our last walk and have seen big horn sheep and mule deer. There are some very easy walking sections and some challenging sections. Please do not attempt any long walks in the hot summer months (go to Mt. Charleston!) Wear a hat and bring sunscreen and lots of water, if you think you'll need 2 bottles of water bring 4 and I like to freeze my water the night before so it gradually melts and is ice cold. And don't assume the weather will be warm, know that it does get quite cold and windy in the desert so check the weather before you go. Have a great time!
  • Been hiking and running these trails for 10 yrs and going my favorite place to take my dog
  • Great hiking trail, nice view of the surrounding mountains, beautiful during sunset.
  • Watch out for loose gravel. Lot of uncomfortable cracks in the pavement for a road bike.

Where to stay in Henderson

Henderson is often considered a neighborhood of Las Vegas, though it's a separate city. You'll find many chain hotels here that offer better deals on rooms than those along the Vegas strip. A few fine resorts offer full-service luxury accommodations around the city's famous shopping area.
