  • Love the pitbull chariot driver out of san francisco
  • Their flagship reds were delicious and full-bodied, but it was actually their seasonal Rosé that we ended up taking home with us. It was crisp, dry, refreshing, and a great value.
  • A very cool, mellow winery. The father and son who we met were a grape growing family. Great reds.
  • My girlfriend and I visited Hawkes in late March 2011 and were BLOWN AWAY by their reds. The standard Cab is very good but the show-stealer is the RW (Red Winery, I think?) Cabernet. Holy moly this is one of the best California Cabs I've ever tasted! It's not cheap at $60/bottle retail but it is fantastic. The only reason I didn't give them a 5-star rating is because, after telling my parents about Hawkes and them visiting the winery on a recent trip to Sonoma, they entered the winery during a wine/food festival and tried to get a tasting but the host wouldn't allow it. The host said "well, you don't have a ticket for the wine festival and it would be too complicated to calculate how much it would cost to just taste our wines, so sorry we cannot help you." Wow, what a weak reason to not serve a potential customer. You can't allow two wine lovers to taste a few wines off to the side? They lost probably $250 in business that day and probably a wine club member as my dad would have surely signed up for their wine club. Oh well, their wines are still good but that was quite a hiccup in their service if you ask me.
