  • We had been to Sleeping Bear Dunes so we were not sure it would be worthwhile to stop here and see more sand. Totally wrong! We may have liked these even better. So much more to see and participate in...  read more »

  • This place is awesome -- I was looking for an interactive experience and found it here!!! There is an official entrance to climb the dunes which helped (stairs part way up so) so we were able to climb...  read more »
  • Bring or rent a 4x4 or dune buggy and drive around on the dunes. Be warned you can break your ride if you get too crazy. The rest of the park is nice for hiking or a day at the beach. It can get really crowded at times. So I would not recommend this park if you are trying to find solitude, quiet and get in touch with nature.
  • Lots of fun for the whole family! Great swimming are th as t isn't too deep for the kids thanks to the ever shifting sand dunes. Helpful and friendly staff. Bring your boat, camping gear or just the kids. Everyday is beautiful!
  • We love this place! ATVs aren't allowed on here, but you don't need one to enjoy this sandy paradise. This side of the dunes is more for the naturalist in all of us. There are a couple thousand acres of rolling sand hills to hike around on. When you reach the tops you get a nice view of both Silver Lake and Lake Michigan. Out in the distance the ATV park can be seen while the riders ascend the tops of the hills into view, only to vanish moments later into the sandy valleys. Boats are cruising the lakes while families enjoy the beaches for some much needed cool off time. Once you've taken everything in you can ride the sand slides back down to the foothills.
  • A truly magnificent place spoiled by crushing crowds of ORV users uncaring of the lands they're exploiting. It's a shame of Michigan conservation. There are beautiful spots throughout the park, but you'll need to be mindful to get away from trucks bearing Confederate Battle Flags, loud music, discarded beer cans and broken glass.
  • Drove up from Columbus, Ohio area to go to the dunes in my H1 Hummer. My business partner lives in Michigan and recommended we do this. I picked him up at his place and headed to the Silver Lake and had a blast. There are RV parks near by as well as all kinds of vehicles to rent nearby. We brought some snacks in a cooler and sat on top of test hill (a huge sand dune) and watched others try to make it up the hill. Beautiful view with Lake Michigan in the distance.... which you can drive right up to from the Dunes and go swimming or just hang out. This has been added to my list of places to vacation with my family in the future.
