Grasp the spirit of the age, and learn the whole story of one of the most momentous events in American history at National Civil War Museum. The museum displays are created from an impartial viewpoint to help you understand the causes, course, and consequences of the war. You can see how slavery influenced the economy and society, as well as how the war affected the everyday lives of both soldiers and civilians. The artifact collection includes personal belongings of many of the era's major figures, like Abraham Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and Stonewall Jackson. In addition to artifacts, you can view video displays and listen to music recordings. The tours are self-guided, and the whole museum building is wheelchair-accessible. • Very well done museum located just outside the city proper. It has a variety of displays and tries to offer a balanced view of the conflict.
  • Every History Buff will love this place and anyone studying or interested in the period of the Civil War will love it as well. They have interactive displays that attempt to appeal to different ages so there is something for everyone.
  • This is my favorite museum. They take great care to be impartial and show all sides of a difficult story. The location is beautiful, both the building and the surrounding area. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I make a point of visiting any time I'm near Harrisburg.
  • Great museum run by professional historians who are true to their craft. CEO Wayne Motts is a national treasure. Harrisburg is fortunate and smart to have this musuem.
  • Great museum with a great layout. It's self guiding, but very informative.
  • There's a Pokè gym right out front. And two Pokè stops.
