  • My boys enjoyed looking at the turtles and snakes in the visitor center. The trail we hiked was even and smooth; we easily pushed the jogging stroller. Our boys loved walking out onto the piers and br...  read more »
  • If you visit the park for a short visit, like the playground or the restroom, you're good. However we went camping for what was going to be a 2 night stay with the family. What an absolute nightmare. ...  read more »
  • We grilled with our family here and enjoyed being under a pavilion with a view of a stream. Nice trails.
  • I always like going here for a hike or just a relaxing walk through the woods, when I'm up in the Newport News/Hampton area. This is a great little nature getaway preserved rather nicely in a growing and bustling area, a nice escape you could suggest! The park staff is always friendly and informative and this is a nice place to take the kids to learn about nature and the environment around them. They also have yurts here you can pay to stay in during the summer and fall, and they are exceptionally quaint and cozy! I would highly recommend giving this place a go if you're looking to unwind and enjoy a little nature for a day with the family or even just by yourself. I will forewarn those not so snake lovers out there, that there can tend to be a snake here or there so paying attention is always beneficial!
  • I invade this place once a year for a charity walk/run. It's a 24hr affair and they couldn't have picked a nicer place to do it. The views are spectacular (if you like nature).
  • I think any nature park is well worth the walk. Get into nature a bit more than walking the sidewalk in the neighborhood. We often see deer casually grazing when we drive by this place.
  • Great centrally located park, close enough to get there quickly, far enough away and big enough to feel like you're away from people. Super awesome staff and park rangers, knowledgable about the local area. They also have a dog park which is a bonus for my little girl so she can meet and greet other dogs without a leash. Love this spot!
  • Not gigantic national park but the trails are well maintained and there are a lot picnic sites, water sport rentals (kayaks, canoes, etc). Fun place to spend the day
