  • We had a mid January thaw so my hiking buddy Bill and I decided to try Sleeping Giant for the first time. It was great. WE stayed away from the White and Blue trails as we felt they might be a bit tri...  more »
  • A terrific jewel of a hike near Quinnipiac University you will not want to miss. 1.6 miles on groomed trail to top of trail head is great uphill leg work with the bonus that the return is 1.6 downhill...  more »
  • Very nice photos. Looking at the "castle" of which there are several photos; notice the side view with the lower section on the right side. Between level 2 & 3 toward the left edge there is a raised b...  more »
  • Amazing! If you're an outdoorsy type person and love to hike, then this is the place for you! You can take a 3 mile hike up to the wonderful tower or enjoy a nice, slow, and steady walk just enjoying nature! Very convenient because it's only 11 minutes from Yale University! Amazing view at the tower and very quiet and peaceful! Also, the trail is a nice wide gravel path so you can run on it if you prefer. I would not suggest bringing small children here because there are no side rails to hold on to as you're walking up to the tower. Great for pets and older kids and teens! Would absolutely 100% recommend!
  • Such a wonderful, beautiful hike! It's a great place to bring your kids (human or dog) for a nature walk. There are many trails, but the tower trail is the easiest and most popular. There's also a neat castle at the top that offers gorgeous view of the surrounding area!
  • A great collection of well marked trails crisscrosses the sleeping giant. There are easy and hard trails with vistas, cliffs, and streams to enjoy along the way. Use the East parking lot to avoid the crowds (sometimes).
  • Great park for hiking, trails for everyone. If you are an avid hiker I would not recommend the Tower trail, it gets very very crowded. I did the blue trail, it’s hard, a lot of rock climbing required; sometimes on all fours:) but the views are amazing, I did half of the blue and returned back using red and white trails, it’s about 5 miles
  • Enjoyable! About 30 miles of trails to hike. It's always fun to hike through the "inner valley" and up the back (east) side of the castle.
