  • My favorite hiking spot in CT. Trails are well maintained and the park is dog friendly! Park in the back and avoid the crowds.  more »

  • One of my favorite CT Parks. So many happy memories. I use to hike up to the castle at sunrise and be back home in time to make breakfast. I carried my son in a backpack. He loved it. We were billy goats. ;) I miss feeling young but I love my maturity.
  • If you are looking for a location to take a hike under a canopy of wonderful trees, this is the place. Parking will fit you $9.00 but the paths are well maintained, and the 1.6 mile hike up to the castle is enjoyable as well as slightly challenging to your fitness. The views are wonderful, stop enjoy the views and hike back down. Paths are for walking and dogs on leashes.
  • There is a main trail to the "Tower" up top - this is very wide, well maintained, flat, and lined with gravel. This trail is fine, but somewhat boring and very busy on a nice day. Fortunately they have a pretty extensive network of smaller trails that are more what you'd expect of hiking. We went on a very busy day and found most of the other trails nearly deserted. If you wanted, you could certainly walk the trails for the good part of a morning or afternoon. $9 for parking for CT residents.
  • Love walking here! It's cooler walking here, under the trees. Various trails to hike. Great for groups, families, dogs. There are places that you can fish and swim. ☺
  • It is nice and well maintained. The hikes are good, there are several levels you can choose from. Their recreation area is pretty good as well, we usually go there to BBQ. It's pet and family friendly as well.
