Waimea Bay, Haleiwa

Categories: Beaches, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web
Featuring large waves and surfing competitions, Waimea Bay hugs a powdery beach bordered by tropical greenery. Depending on the weather, the ocean can be completely calm, or you can encounter 15 m (50 ft) waves. Visit the beach to lounge in the sun or have a picnic, or walk through the nearby gardens and look at the waterfalls. When the water is calm, you can also swim and snorkel. Beware of the local tradition of rock-jumping--although many visitors do it, the local authorities strictly advise against it. Parking space at the site is very limited. Put Waimea Bay on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Haleiwa vacation builder.

  • We came here to swim and enjoy the day and were also entertained by surfers. Truly a great place on the north shore of Ohau.
  • This is another popular tourist spot - good to enjoy the day or to just stop and take pictures. There are several stops around there that one can take advantage of - very relaxing scenery.
  • Gorgeous views. Parking can be difficult later in the day. Be aware of your own swimming abilities as the surf is rough and can drag you out quickly. Great day at the beach though.
