Featuring large waves and surfing competitions, Waimea Bay hugs a powdery beach bordered by tropical greenery. Depending on the weather, the ocean can be completely calm, or you can encounter 15 m (50 ft) waves. Visit the beach to lounge in the sun or have a picnic, or walk through the nearby gardens and look at the waterfalls. When the water is calm, you can also swim and snorkel. Beware of the local tradition of rock-jumping--although many visitors do it, the local authorities strictly advise against it. Parking space at the site is very limited. Great spot, just a short drive away from the North Shore. Highly recommend that you also visit the botanical garden area of the park, and there is a waterfall that you can hike to. Cost is $20 per..... more »

Waimea on the North Shore is a great beach. It's got great scenery with (if you're facing the water) local kids jumping off a small cliff on the left into the water and a cliff on the right. Waimea.... more »

If you want to park in the lot, temporarily park in the no parking zone near the showers. Wait for someone to exit and ask them if you can have their spot as they walk past (then follow them to their.... more »

One of my favorite beach destinations. Big sand beach. Picturesque with the most beautiful wave action. Family friendly waters on a calm day and 30'-40' waves on stormy days for just wave and extreme surfer watching. Facilities and shower on site.

One of the best beaches on Oahu. Great place to surf or watch surfers. It also is a great beach to bring the kiddos to play in the waves. They have a lifeguard on duty and bathrooms. Not a lot of parking but you can park up the road if there is nothing in the lot.
-
Marvelous place to watch waves crash against rocks and rush onto the sand, especially when large. Modest size parking lot with cold showers and bathroom favorites. Surfers come out from sunrise. Great place to visit for families of all ages. When predicted waves are large as 20 feet or more, expect large spectator crowds, police patrols on parking and long lines of traffic.

Breaks are getting up there! Should be epic today. Such a small parking lot for such an expanse of beach. Better to park at the grocery and walk the narrow but well worn path along the highway to the little stairwell. Pay attention to the lifeguards they know more than you do.

Parking sucks and it takes a bit to find a spot. The beach its self is amazing. Active water and sand underneath the water, don't have to worry about rocks or coral. Walk around and enjoy the water it's lovely. And it's got a cool rock you can jump off of.
