Sunset Beach Park, Haleiwa

4.7
#2 of 8 in Beaches in Haleiwa
Beach · Nature / Park
Suit up, grab your board (or flippers), and hit the waves at Sunset Beach Park, one of the island's most legendary surfing spots. Nestled along Oahu's wild northern shore, the beach boasts long stretches of soft sand, swaying palm trees, and wide-open ocean views. Depending on the season, surfers flock to the area to catch some of its towering waves or participate in the famous Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. You can certainly join in, if you have the proper skills and knowledge. Otherwise, indulge in some of the region's most popular snorkeling and swimming zones, or just kick back and relax on the sand. Keep in mind while in the water that the beach has very strong riptides, so always follow basic safety precautions. • Made a quick stop on our way home from Shark's Cove to get a glimpse of the beautiful view. Gorgeous place, very clean.  more »
  • This beach is the opposite of Waikiki, which I also enjoyed. But if you are looking for untouched quiet non-commercial, then make the trek up to the North Shore. I'll let my photos speak for...  more »

  • Fortunately, heavy downpours stopped, water was still warm... nice with very few locals!
  • Beautiful beach, not too many people. Water was nice!
  • Beautiful. So nice the water is clear and the beach is empty!!
  • Love this beach. The waves are huge. I'm not a surfer, but just seeing the surfers hitting the waves is cool. Great to watch the sun set and the surfers continue waiting for their wave into dusk. Note, parking can be a challenge, but there is a parking lot across the street with restroom access. No lights after sunset, so may need to use your car lights for visibility after dark at restroom. Best parking beyond that is along the.highway, or next beach entrances, the beach goes pretty long. Competitions are held along this beach front.
  • One of my favorite spots on the north shore. Less crowded beach with a super nice view!! There is a public parking. There is also a little shack for smoothies and fresh fruits. Definitely a nice beach where you can spend your day calmly without stress and the annoying crowd. Buy a coconut or a pineapple and go there to enjoy the sunset!!!
