4.4/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web
Laniakea Beach may be one of Oahu's top surfing spots, but its star attraction remains the native "honu," the green sea turtles. The seaweed growing on the rocks scattered around this small beach is a source of turtle food, and you can often spot these creatures just basking in the sun or sticking their heads out of the waves. Although they don't seem to mind the incessant throngs of camera-toting tourists, state and federal laws protect these turtles, so remember that you cannot handle them. To learn more about their habits and peculiarities, approach one of the volunteers providing information and patrolling the beach. • Laniakea (Turtle) Beach is beautiful! I've only been twice, but it's amazing to see the turtles lounging out on the shore, in their natural habitat. Sadly they are still crowded by lots of people, and are guarded by rope so no one touches them. The beach itself is also gorgeous. Good location to stop by if you're at the North Shore.
  • So awesome. Wasn't expecting to see Turtles here after hexing great luck spotting Sea Lions at the west point but low and behold I saw at least 12 different Turtles. Please be respectful and give the Turtles space and DO NOT TOUCH the Turtles. That way generations can enjoy the same beautiful experience that you will
  • It's one of the best beaches on the island. Local residents that live there know this and hate that others know it. It's way too busy but if you can get in there it's a great beach.
  • Amazing experience! Watched one of two turtles re-enter the ocean. Just too many spectators on the beach!
  • Beautiful beach and best time to come is at sunrise. Although, rest of the day is great here as well! Calmer than other beaches so you can spend time in the water even if you're not a good swimmer or with kids.
