  • Holly River has a beautiful waterfall on a stream and many hiking trails. The park has a few other waterfalls as well. Beautiful scenery.
  • We experienced some frustrations this weekend. We called ahead a few weeks ago to see if we could reserve a spot. They told my husband on the phone that all of their reserve spots were full, but that the "first come, first serve" spots were open if we wanted to try and find one when we got there. We decided to go up early on Thursday night, to try and reserve. We drove through the entire campground, and there were close to 30 spots that had no camper, vehicle, or people in them that had either a white or blue piece of paper on the site posts marking them reserved. We assumed it meant that all of the sites in the campground had been reserved, especially since the "no vacancy" sign was at the entrance to the campground. We were sorely disappointed, and it made us unattracted to this campground for sure. The policy listed at the camp office and on the website says that only 27 of the 88 sites are reserveable, the rest being first come first serve, but aparently they all can be reserved and are not actually first come first serve as we were led to believe.
  • We love this place. The cabins are nicely appointed. The restaurant has excellent home made food and the staff is very friendly. I also like it that when we come her as a family we can unplug.... no reception in the cabins:)
  • Stayed at Holly River SP in the Fall of '15, in log, CCC built cabin 6. Cabin was very nice, clean and was built in the vertical log construction method. One thing though, cabins were much closer together than most other WV State Park cabins. Park was beautiful and very well maintained with friendly staff. Lots to do. Check out the awesome CCC built pavilion and schoolhouse! Would return if the cabins weren't so close together. Still, beautiful and very nice park.
  • This little Park is a gem. Breathtaking beauty, serene and nice creature comforts
  • Excellent family gathering place. This is a beautiful park.
