  • The beach at the end of Mobile Street is so beautifully serene. We just I stood in awe, until a Great Blue Heron decided that a fisherman’s bait looked good enough for dinner. We laughed at this bird ...  more »
  • You will find beautiful walking areas and information about the wildlife. Close to water and seems very safe.  more »
  • On a family vacation to get away from snow so we were determined to be outside as much as possible. We hiked the Pine Beach trail. Quiet and easy hike. Disappointed we saw no wildlife...not even a bir...  more »

  • Beautiful place, great atmosphere it happened that it was a sunny beautiful day as it had been extremely cold during the week, this made for perfect hiking weather, we did the Pine Beach Trail and let me say there is so shortage of beautiful views. Yes I keep using that word but for good reason. It was nice to see something different then end up right on the beach. Definitely loved the landing overlooking Gator lake. The water in the lagoon was pretty spectacular as well also seeing the remnants of the houses that were taken by Fredrick in 1979 was neat. One pretty trail and not much trash which is a plus. Kudos to a well kept trail.
  • I walked along the Pine Beach Trail, going about 2 miles from a pine forest to the Gulf Beach. The trail was well maintained and fairly empty, I saw less than 20 people the entire time I was there. The beach was gorgeous, definitely worth the hike. There were a few benches along the trail to rest or take off your shoes. The first mile of the trail was crushed gravel, the last bit was beach sand.
  • Over the last year my family and I have truly come to appreciate and understand the importance of wildlife refugees like Bob Secour. My son and I visited Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge while in Gulf Shores on spring break. After checking into the park office and looking at each of the trail options, we decided to just wing it and see where we ended up. We started at the beginning of Pine Beach Trail, hit a portion of the Centennial trail and then continued back on PBT before arriving at the observation tower. We continued down PBT all the way to the beach but be warned, the last half mile is an all beach trail. I ended up carrying my son some in order to keep us moving. The beach view was worth it. Along the trail there are plenty of scenic spots for pictures and benches. If your not interested in hitting the beach, in my opinion, the PBT is fully capable supporting a jogging stroller for little kids (behind point to just before the beach/sand portion of the trail; about 3 miles round trip). Make sure to pack water, sunscreen and something along the lines of a handkerchief to keep your neck covered if the sun is a little too much. A great trail to explore with family. You can cut it shorted by turning around at the observation tower. One “bathroom/outhouse” is located where PBT intersects with Centennial. Centennial looks to be the best spot to see a gator!
  • I visited with my church group during a youth retreat. The park is very peaceful & the trails are wide. Has swamps, lagoons, & giant sand dunes with low oak trees. I wish I could have explored all of it, but my group was in a hurry b/c they had to pick up someone. I found 3 perfect scallop shells on the beach, cacti in an abandoned foundation, & nice sand dollar pieces that make for decent skipping stones.
  • Very nice well kept walking trails with plenty of wildlife and vegetation to view. Great view of the lagoon with a viewing tower.
