  • Always a good time. We make it a point to stop at this vineyard because of the great wine and beautiful scenery
  • This was my third trip to Pollak. I was looking forward to going with family as we had traveled to Charlottesville for the weekend. While the wines were just as good as I remembered from previous visi...  read more »
  • Pollak Vineyard was on my short list of wineries to visit while I was in the area and I'm so pleased I did, I'd allocated around 45 minutes for my visit but ended up staying over 2 hours, the wines we...  read more »
  • I've been here twice, once in March and once in early August. Five-star wine, service, and scenery both times. If you're looking for a picnic spot, this is the one - Afton is nice and the view is beautiful, but the employees at Pollak aren't stuck up and the whole place is pet-friendly and bring-your-own-picnic friendly. There's a ton of tables outside, you can pick from a covered porch, an open patio, picnic tables by the lake or picnic tables under trees. Also: best dessert wine EVER. It's $30, but it's the only wine I can justify spending more than $15 on. Pollak is the only winery that I'm personally aware of that uses their estate grapes to make the brandy for the Mille Fleurs, so I'm assuming that's why it's so damn good.
  • Unprofessional and rude. The brunette server with glasses stopped servicing our group mid tasting to talk to someone else for 15 minutes while we just stood there waiting. No I'm sorry, excuse me, no nothing. Abandoned us on two separate occasions for other parties. Didn't give us our glasses at the end of the tasting. Seemed clueless about the vineyard policies on glasses with tastings. Just down the road you have several vineyards that provide much better service and glasses. I had planned on purchasing a few bottles, like i did from veritas and few others but due to the rude treatment I won't be recommending this vineyard to any of my friends. Come for the views if you must but avoid if you like good service. One star for location.
  • Place is pretty. Wine is decent but very over-priced for the area. Our service was horrible. First we were ditched by our server for someone that apparently was a regular, then we were rushed after a group came in behind us. Then they forgot to give us the glasses. Would have bought a couple bottles cause the wine is decent but not anymore. Won't be back. Veritas is much better.
  • Fantastic wines and beautiful scenery! My fiancĂ© and I were very impressed with the wide variety of excellent tasting wines that Pollak Vineyards offers. Our tasting was even expanded a bit thanks to helpful staff and a little schmoozing. I make it a point to find their wines at my local wine shops whenever I can.
  • Pollak Vineyards IN WESTERN ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA, has seriously good wines throughout their list, and it is a surprise and delight to visit. The Pollack Winery itself is a very modern structure which I had some while ago admired from a distance from the lower Scenic Lookout on Afton Mountain--at that time I could only speculate on what it was, and admire the cleanness of its architecture--but if there was ever a winery worth a visit, here it is! I only wish I could have tried their Cabernet Sauvignon, but evidently it was so good they are completely out of it! What they DO have is a wide variety of wines exhibiting well the characteristics of each variety while exceeding expectations in each. So it is with great confidence that I commend Margo and David Pollak for their achievement, and recommend a visit for anyone who appreciates fine wine. I took a number of photographs while there, of the pond, of the scenery, of the Winery and the Vineyard. This is a place to relax and enjoy both the view and the wine. Fresh bread, cheese and hard salami or prosciutto are available to enjoy with the wine, but this is not a restaurant or a hotel, and any pets you choose to bring must be on a leash at all times for a number of excellent reasons--not least so that others may enjoy this beautiful place in peace. The staff is intelligent and attentive, without any of the snottiness that seems to have crept into staff at several other (unmentionable) Virginia wineries. The staff at Pollak Vineyards is offering excellent products which will speak for themselves, from the Chardonnay (!--yes, I was most pleasantly surprised, too!--) through their "Monticello" vintage 2011 dessert wine. Come and have a wonderful time!
