The Museum was originally built as a private home in 1853. Robert Moffat Bruce (1822-1908), a wealthy textile merchant and member of the New York Cotton Exchange, bought the house and property in 1858.

In 1908, Robert Bruce bequeathed his home to the Town of Greenwich and stipulated that it be used "as a Natural History, Historical and Art Museum, for the use and benefit of the public."

  • The museum is currently under construction. Hope to be finalized by May 2023. The part that we saw was already redone and very nice. We saw stuffed animals as well as live fish and turtles. Everything was nicely done and we look forward to see the final product!
  • Small museum with expansive information! My kiddo, the stargazer, had a blast learning about the beginning of time and the beyond! After the museum, we parked across the street to enjoy the playground! Perfect day!
  • A nice small quiet museum with many artifacts and interesting displays and exhibits. Didn't get to stay long as we came late, since I was on a business trip but was nice to see they had this in town. Gift shop was cute and grabbed a few things for the little ones.
  • Bruce museum is currently only partially available due to construction. However the part of the museum I have been able to visit is spectacularly done. Very engaging, lots of interesting things. Full of children and parents.
  • Grown adults seem to have nothing better to do then nag toddlers to cover their nose.
