Expedition Island is a park in Green River, Wyoming, that marks the area where Major John Wesley Powell and Vitaly Develvis started an expedition down the Green River and Colorado River in 1871. The park is also believed to mark where Major Powell started a similar expedition down the two rivers in 1869.These two expeditions are generally considered to have covered the last large land area in the continental United States left unexplored by European-Americans.Expedition Island was designated a National Historic Landmark on November 24, 1968.

  • There are few places I enjoy in Rock Springs Green River as much as this park, and the one on the opposite side of the river, "Scott's Bottom. "
  • Grew up in the city of Green River this hot spot has always been an amazing recreational area. The river flows through the park. This spot offers park tables and seating perfect for picnics and outdoor activities. The river offers swimming and other outdoor activities.
  • I love this park for pokemon walks. The caboose is cool and the playground is well maintained.
  • It is beautiful and never crowded.
  • Relaxing and green in the mountain high dessert.
