  • This was our first hike in Gatlinburg and it did not disappoint. It is rated as strenuous and 5.6 miles round trip. My kids 12 & 13 had no trouble with it. Can definitely see the fire damage but the h...  more »
  • We decided to take on this hike on a day that forecasted rain. Probably not the best idea as the rocks were slick and you really had to watch every step you took. However, the smokey air rolled in as ...  more »
  • Should have read TripAdvisor before making this trip - it IS sad to see how much the fire destroyed some of the landscape - was still a beautiful walk to the falls - again wish I had read the reviews ...  more »

  • A wonderful hike, just short of 3 miles. Intermediate course, with some rocky steps along the way. A truly beautiful waterfall, an 80 foot drop, Niagra Falls it isn't, but the rock face backdrop is a breathtaking reward for beginners and casual hikers.
  • Great hike for an active family or group of friends. Best to start early in the day and avoid hiking at dusk.
  • Good hike with moderate to slightly rough terrain at times. Beautiful scenery. We spotted 4 bears on our drive out but not on our way in our while hiking. The are some fun tree bridges along the path. Took us less than 4 hours round trip and that was with a little one setting the pace.
  • One of the toughest hikes to this day that I've done! Still snow at the top of the mountain!! Amazing place and views
  • my husband and i along with my uncle and aunt had a mini-vaca in May 2016 and i was in love with rainbow falls after we finally got there lol it was so beautiful on the way up and even better when we got to the top. took us 5 hours because we were taking in the experience of the mountain. definitely recommend others to NOT do what I did... do NOT wear flip-flops! it's a disaster, I slipped on a rock 😂😂 I had never been to a water fall also never went hiking so i didn't think about wearing shoes. the view on the way up was so amazing and beautiful. even wirh it being a cloudy day and it started raining half way but we were determined to get to the top. and for others that have not been to rainbow falls don't stop at the 1st "big" water fall KEEP GOING! when we saw the 1St one we all thought this is not the pictures we looked at!? then we saw a couple coming back and they said keep going you're almost there, which we heard what seemed to be 100 times lol, so we all decided we've made it this far we can't give up now! and when we finally got to it, it was so so so so so so so very much worth it!!! my husband and I will be going back this July and will be doing it again!
