You'll earn a magnificent view from atop the peak, but mind that the ascent is tough, with trail lengths ranging from 7.9 km (4.9 mi) to 14.3 km (8.9 mi). Once you've completed the hike, have a meal and rest at the mountaintop lodge, renowned for its hospitality among visitors. Wear adequate footwear for the hike and prepare for sudden weather changes.   • We did this hike as a family group of 12, 6 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 7 to 45. We did the hike all in one day. It took us about 3.5 hours to the top, and another almost 3 to get back...

  • Hiked from Alum Cave trail to the Leconte Lodge and Myrtle Point with my teenage son. Definitely the #1 thing to do in the Gatlinburg area. Total mileage including to Myrtle Point was 12.25. Many.....  more
