  • Such a great spot next to Great Falls National Park! One of my husband's favorite places to hike and take pictures. You can hike from River Bend into Great Falls Park which he does regularly. On a bea...  more »
  • This is a no frills park along the Potomac River. Lots of nice maintained trails so even lets fit folks can enjoy. Bring some wine and a picnic and sit along the river.
  • Happened to go on a perfect day. The park was bustling with people having picnics, canoeing, hiking. Great views of the river from the deck. The park is free to the public. You can also rent canoes an...  more »
  • Great walking and mini hiking paths. Good views of the calm river above Great Falls. Can't see Great Falls from this angle. Great alternative and quiet compared to Great Falls for walking/ hiking without seeing the falls. Entered from Great Falls entrance and parking. Plan to go back through their entrance next time.
  • Free parking and relaxing one-hour walk to see the falls! Perfect place to spend time with family and friends! Riverbend park and Great Falls are super attractive for buyers looking to buy homes in Great Falls area. Public schools are top notch here as well!
  • Big parking lot. Nice long trails with views of the wide wider portions of the upper Potomac. An abundance of wildlife as well as people. Fishing can be tough depending on water levels. Not much shore access but there's a boat ramp and the rent yaks too.
  • Awesome free park! Take the trail to the right and it leads you to Great Falls, take the trail up river to the left and find hiking paths, hidden ponds and river lookouts. Really one of my favorite spots. Also has public restrooms and an administrative building for renting canoes. The trails are groomed and at a certain time in spring the woods around the trails are covered in purplish blue wild flowers. There are picnic tables and grilling pits. The river is calm because there is a dam down river which is just before the rapids of great falls - there is a loading ramp for small boats.
  • Great Fairfax county park that is a good alternative to Great Falls National Park. We went here when Great Falls NP was limiting how many could get in. This was a great alternative and is further up the Potomac River from Great Falls Park. Trails are not as well done as Great Falls but that is no problem whatsoever. Nice easy walk along the Potomac.
