Shaw Nature Reserve is open year round from 7 a.m. until sunset. Entrance fee: $5 adults; $3 seniors and students; children 12 and under are free, members are free. Wheelchair, stroller and bicycle accessible areas. Stop in at the Visitor's Center (hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends) for a map and directions. Enjoy 14 miles of hiking trails, the Nature Explore Classroom, the Whitmire Wildflower Garden, the Meramec River, classes for everyone, field trips, historic buildings, and overnight lodges. Stop in at the historic Bascom House on the weekends for coffee, hot tea, lemonade when it's warm, or hot chocolate when it's cold.
