  • Beautiful campgrounds and grassy walking trails. We enjoyed the mix of forest and prairie. The interpretive center was small but had some kids activities.
  • Great state park. There is a good historical site, great hiking trails and a nice camp ground. The tipis are also a lot of fun if you get the chance to stay in one. No beach thought if swimming is your thing.
  • Lots of trails and nice campsites along the river made for a wonderful weekend getaway.
  • We camped at the river sites. The area was very nice, with good fishing. The river wasn't too fast for kayaking at the time. We hope to go again.
  • We visited this campsite this past weekend August 26 and 27th 2016. We had booked a tipi in March. When we arrived they told us the mosquitos had been out a lot more but not to worry as if you kept the door shut they would not fly up and in. I have been born and raised in MN and I know mosquitos. This was beyond normal camping and mosquitos. I had children age 18 months, 3, 5 and 7. We had protected them throughout the day and night with bug spray no issues. But when it came to going to sleep it was a different story. My youngest two seemed to sleep fine. My husband 5 year old and 7 year old had slept completely under there sleeping bag as the mosquitos were driving them crazy. I never slept because I was up swatting all night. We didn't even stay both nights because it was so bad. We woke up and went home immediately. My 18 month old had over 100 bites on her face and my 3 year old had more. They had the worst amount of bites I have EVER seen in my entire 30 years of life. I am not big on writing reviews but after this terrible experience I wanted other families to know about this situation. The campground itself was nice. the staff was nice. But the teepee was HORRIBLE!!! I would not recommend unless you brought a mosquito net to sleep in!
