  • There was a lot of art going on in Grand Rapids both in the museum and in the actual streets so it was probably a great month to go in October - Everything I saw was awe inspiring and I would definite...  more »
  • We were here to see the Art Prize exhibits, so I'm not sure what the museum would be at other times, but it has a nice layout and the Art Prize exhibits were very good.  more »
  • Stopped into the museum to see the Art Prize entries but enjoyed our time looking at the other exhibits as well. Bonus - it was free during Art Prize!  more »

  • Easy to navigate. Friendly service and great items at the gift shop. Don't get to close to the art and try to read it because the staff with give you a warning. Overall, we had a good time. Fyi...Tuesday's are free!!
  • The Grand Rapids Art Museum - GRAM is located on the NE corner of Rosa Parks Circle. They are a venue for Art Prize every year and our local Wood8 station faces the park on the ground floor. Yes it is visible from the Amway Grand hotel.
  • Wonderful place! Their kids activity cards are kind of terrible. The art museum itself is great and the kids loved it.
  • This is a decent small art museum. With GR's emphasis on Art in recent years, I expected to see a large selection of styles, but it was more focused on historical gifts to the space than the winners or entries at the Art Prize event everyone keeps taking about.
  • This place is always cool and inspiring. I love going here to view the various collections. They change regularly which is nice and they also provide special events. It's a nice way to spend a few hours wandering between the exhibits.

Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Only five hotels provide lodging downtown, but each charms its guests with a distinctive character. A small collection of bed and breakfasts and inns populate Old Town. These hotels are a five-minute walk from the city's main attractions, top restaurants, and conference centers, so they tend to fill up fast. Book a room early to ensure you get the lodging of your choice. There are also hotel chains near the airport and in residential areas; public transport and taxi service link these to the city's downtown.
