  • We arrived about 1 1/2 hours before closing, but paid our $15 per person and proceeded to enjoy our walk through the sculpture and plant gardens. As we were finishing our tour my girlfriend's blood sugar dropped. We made it to our car and I sat her on a curb beside it to get her a snack and drink. While she was eating her snack a park employee came and told us they didn't allow tailgating. That we could sit in our car or leave. She walked away without giving me any opportunity to explain. I am very disappointed in the way this changed our whole experience. $30 for a hour and a half walk through the gardens with a threat and an insult to finish. Completely inappropriate.
  • I have been trying to go to this place for the longest time. I literally drove from Chicago to Grand Rapids to visit these gardens and I will say that it is completely worth it. The gardens are beautiful and there is something for everyone to see. However I planned in advance and mapped out every piece of art I wanted to see and I am glad that I did since the map they give isn't very detailed and only tells you the artist name, not the work of art and doesn't include photos. Which was unfortunate for several people since they were wandering around looking for certain pieces. Definitely worth the drive to Grand Rapids and worth going but try to plan in advance so you aren't wandering around.
  • An absolutely fantastic place to see a show. I can't believe I've never been there before what a gem! The staff and patrons we're all super friendly. Be aware of the chair policy though. You can only bring in those really short camping chairs... Not your usual bag chairs.
  • Not handicapped friendly! Disappointing concert venue. My husband and I attended the Toto concert tonight, and while the band sounded amazing, our experience was unacceptable. First, the associate checking bags, grabbed my bottle of tea from our cooler, and as she was running away with it, said I couldn't bring it in because it was open, and proceeded to dump my entire $3.00 drink in the bushes. My husband could have taken it back to the car. Every attendant we encountered harassed my husband about his chair, which turned out to be 34," two inches over their ridiculous height requirement. I understand they have their rules, but when the venue and the band encourage everyone to stand, why worry about the height of the chairs? The white plastic chairs they provided those with "illegal chairs," were taller than my husband's! Furthermore, I am disabled, and the handicapped seating is situated so that when everyone stands up in front of you, you can see nothing. I spent the whole evening staring at the backs of other concertgoers, with only a rare glimpse of the band. My husband and I attend a lot of concerts, and this one was by far our worst experience!
  • Meijer Gardens is my happy place!! I enjoy being a member and coming through seasonally with new guests to explore the exhibits and check out the plants and art. It's always changing and always beautiful. The staff and volunteers do such a wonderful job. Volunteering here is also extremely rewarding and I highly recommend trying it out whether you have a few hours a month or a few hours a week!
