  • During a recent visit to Grand Junction the wife and I passed the Museum of the West on the way to our destination. That same afternoon we had a couple of hours to kill but didn't want to go all the w...  read more »
  • There are so many interesting things to learn about Grand Junction and the history of the Western Slope. This museum is educating and fascinating.
  • Such a great time. I would recommend this place to all families who WANT FUN. The family and I loved it.
  • Great little museum right in the center of town. Nice area to walk around in downtown Grand Junction and spend the afternoon in. The museum is quite small, but uses its space and exhibits quite well. Lots of stories, artifacts and history from the various periods in the development of the old West. Great for kids with a bunch of displays for them to get into and climb up on. Has a lookout tower at the top that also shows you what building was what in the old days. The staff at the reception is quite nice and friendly as well.
  • I love the Museum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Great little museum!! I took my 19 months old baby boy to this museum and it was great!! Fun for me and him. They have a historical car, an old airplane with simulation voices, a cute wagon you can sit in, a little cute school typical from the west and more... And the tower in top of the building with a great view of Grand Junction so Definitely I will recommend it.
  • I think that considering how small this museum is that it has done a great job with its exhibits; our four year old really enjoyed many of them and learned a lot from our time there. The people at the front desk were very friendly as well! There is a covered wagon that you can sit in (it has a little bounce to it), an (older) flight simulation computer game, a real Cessna that you can sit inside of, an old fire engine with a hand-cranked siren, an old phone booth that has recorded operators' voices, an old school-house (in a room), a (small) mining tunnel, and many other things to look at as well (these were just the highlights for our kiddo). There is also a tower that you can go up into (elevator available) to check out the view of the surrounding area. They also have a gift shop right next to the front desk. We paid for the pass that also included the Dinosaur Journey (not that great IOHOs) and the Cross Orchards (also, not that great), which made each 'museum' a little cheaper than what they would have been separately. Because we really didn't care for the other two, I would say you'd be better off paying full price for this museum, skipping the other two, and saving the $20 or so (for two adults and one child) if you're looking for something educational to do while in Grand Junction.
