The population was 2,067 at the 2010 census.A landing for the Lake Champlain Transportation Company's ferry to Plattsburgh, New York at Cumberland Head is located on the western shore of Grand Isle at Gordon's Landing.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.1 square miles (91.0 km2), of which 16.5 square miles (42.8 km2) is land and 18.6 square miles (48.2 km2) (53.00%) is water.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 1,955 people, 772 households, and 572 families residing in the town. The population density was 118.4 people per square mile (45.7/km2). There were 1,047 housing units at an average density of 63.4 per square mile (24.5/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.54% White, 0.20% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.36% Asian, and 1.59% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.
