Rim Trail, Grand Canyon National Park

4.9
#3 of 9 in Trails in Grand Canyon National Park
For a non-strenuous hike along the inner canyon coupled with unrestricted views of the spectacular gorge, try Rim Trail inside Grand Canyon National Park. The park, a World Heritage Site, has made hikes along this trail easier thanks to the well-managed, paved terrain. You can appreciate the remarkable views of the 1.6 km (1 mi) deep canyon cut by the Colorado River from any of the viewpoints along the trail. The full trail is 21 km (13 mi) trail, but if you get tired beforehand, there are shuttles that run from various points along the trail throughout the day. For a memorable end-of-day view, head to Hopi Point to watch the sunset. The park urges you to carry water at all times, and remember to wear good walking shoes. • Want to see the vast expanse of canyon with a great view with no railings and less crowd - get here. Excellent view  more »
  • Although also recommended summer but the amount of people is almost painful. In winter the shuttle is not while, for, one can with own car up to the hermits rest point. Duty is to commit the rim trail at least on 1-2. Always opens up wonderful sceneries.

  • a beautiful trail, easy even with the stroller and virtually no difference, with countless view point from the exceptional panorama, all the way along the canyon rim constantly so the view is pretty much constant.

Where to stay in Grand Canyon National Park

You'll find plenty of options if you want to stay inside Grand Canyon National Park. Most campgrounds and lodges sit around the South Rim area, and they tend to fill up quickly for summer visits, so book as far in advance as possible. The price range for lodge accommodations varies greatly, so there's something for nearly every budget. The less-visited North Rim features one lodge. For those who hike to the bottom of the canyon, dormitories and cabins are available at Phantom Ranch. If you can't secure a place in the park or find something there to your liking, the small village near the south entrance offers inns and economy motels. You’ll have the convenience of nearby restaurants if you stay there.
