Powell Point, Grand Canyon National Park

Lookout · Hidden Gem · Monument
Enjoy sweeping views of the Grand Canyon from Powell Point, dedicated to an early explorer who ventured along the Colorado River through the spectacular scenery. Shuttle buses will take you up to the point, which remains relatively less crowded than other spots in the park. Sunset and sunrise are particularly memorable, but no time of day disappoints with these vistas. Powell Point is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

  • It's all just beautiful that it's difficult to discern one Point from another. Why I wanted to review Powel's Point is because of John Wesley Powel after whom the Point is named. First off, great...  more »

  • I guess every Vista point is just breath taking in it's own way. Watched the canyon lit up in shades of red during sunset last month. Just take the red loop to reach this spot.
  • Awesome viewing area with spectacular views in every direction. We visited in late March and the temperature was perfect. We enjoyed mid 60’s with almost cloudless skies. Grateful to not be subjected to the summer inferno. Great tour guides around with plenty of information to share about the Park and the sights. No shortage of history in this park. Amazing to see millions and millions of years of geological progression all in one spot.
  • My favorite point in the South Rim of GCNP. Astounding views. A must visit. Take the red bus route to reach here.
  • Really nice if you get there before sunrise and watch the sun come out.
  • Neat little narrow walk out to a point. Cool minimal monument to climb also!
