Create an itinerary including Powell Point
Enjoy sweeping views of the Grand Canyon from Powell Point, dedicated to an early explorer who ventured along the Colorado River through the spectacular scenery. Shuttle buses will take you up to the point, which remains relatively less crowded than other spots in the park. Sunset and sunrise are particularly memorable, but no time of day disappoints with these vistas. Powell Point is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

  • Beautiful sunrise view. Busses start at 430, and *roughly* every 30 minutes on the red line. One left just before I got there at 547. Next didn't leave until 625. Takes 15 or so from the bus stop. So plan accordingly if you want to see the sunrise.
  • While the whole Grand Canyon is spectacular, Powell Point has views to so many different shape and color rock formation, it is incredible. I have also noticed that there are usually less people there, so if you want to relax and enjoy the scenes, head to Powell Point.
  • A beautiful spot to watch the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. The Shuttles run every 30 mins this early, so plan ahead. We had the entire spot for ourselves when we got there around 5:30 am. I was able to set up in different places to capture the sunrise and then walked to Hopi point. Photos taken with Pixel6a
  • By far the best lookout point in our opinion. I decided this spot was so beautiful I even proposed to my girlfriend up there! It’s quiet and secluded away from the crowds.
  • Want to avoid crowds at the South rim? Take the free dusk shuttle bus toward Hermit's Rest and stop at one of the many waypoints on the way. Easy trails to vistas, and spectacular views -- layer upon layer of geologic time and earthly beauty will meet you at every turn.
