Powell Point, Grand Canyon National Park
Categories: Monuments, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Enjoy a spectacular view of the sunset from Powell Point. Climb the top of the formation, and observe as the sun falls behind the red rocks in the distance. Witness how the light hits the canyon, and how it changes hues, from red and orange, to dark brown. Read the plaques that stand next to the path, on the way to the point, and learn about the man it was named after, and other interesting facts. Wear hiking shoes as the terrain can be difficult to manage. The best thing about this point is the small path that extends into the canyon. There is a raised platform at the end of the path that allows a very good 360 view of the area.
Views and more views! This is on the red route and is a great place to starting hiking the rim on the south side of the park.
