  • The Eastern exit from the Park still passes some beautiful lookouts. By chance, we have controlled the Moran and were taken with a new view of the Grand Canyon. After our top 5 vantage points, we would reset the Moran Point directly behind it. On the way to the Watchtower, certainly worth the short stop.

  • This is by far the best east end viewpoint. If you’re on that side of the park near sunset it is the place to go for viewing and photos. In addition to the fenced areas there are some great spots belo...  more »
  • So many stops on the Desert View Drive provide great views of the Canyon. This is no exception. One of the smaller stops but worth stopping nonetheless.  more »

  • This is one of the most stunning views you will get from Grand Canyon South Rim - fantastic depth and layering of this famous canyon. We were lucky seeing rain clouds and thunderstorms moving across this dramatic landscape. It was a memorable light show we will never forget.
  • Perhaps the best view, and usually has the least crowds on the south rim.
  • Some of the best views I've experienced
  • A bit more toned down nature, and although the other outlooks were remarkable as well I did find this one most enjoyable
  • I liked it. Cool place. The grand canyon takes your breath away.

Where to stay in Grand Canyon National Park

You'll find plenty of options if you want to stay inside Grand Canyon National Park. Most campgrounds and lodges sit around the South Rim area, and they tend to fill up quickly for summer visits, so book as far in advance as possible. The price range for lodge accommodations varies greatly, so there's something for nearly every budget. The less-visited North Rim features one lodge. For those who hike to the bottom of the canyon, dormitories and cabins are available at Phantom Ranch. If you can't secure a place in the park or find something there to your liking, the small village near the south entrance offers inns and economy motels. You’ll have the convenience of nearby restaurants if you stay there.
