Lookout Studio, Grand Canyon National Park

(120+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building
Built on a rock ledge suspended over the Grand Canyon's south rim, Lookout Studio offers some of the best vantage points of the famous landmark. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, the 1914 studio is one of seven buildings in the canyon designed by famed architect Mary Colter, who strove to blend the structure with its natural surroundings using local stone and wood. Explore the building's historic interior, featuring various informative exhibits and a film, and then use the coin-operated telescopes on the outdoor terraces for up-close inspection of the natural spectacle around you. A paved trail nearby makes a great spot to watch for the California condor--North America's largest land bird and a rarity in the skies. The birds use the thermal updrafts of air to cruise along the cliffs. If you're looking for souvenirs, check out the on-site gift shop. • At least one time in your life go there. Beautiful place .
  • Beautiful building and can see scene of grand canyon.
  • Pretty neat little miniature castle type place that overlooked the canyon with some pretty amazing views. Was nice to just hang out there for a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the lodge. It had several layers of viewpoints that got increasingly further out over the canyon. Really nice.
  • Good photo spots where you can set the camera on the highest floor with your people on the lower floors.
  • A nice place to go to check out while at the Grand Canyon.
