Lipan Point, Grand Canyon National Park

Must see · Lookout · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Check out the sights from one of the Grand Canyon's best viewpoints, Lipan Point. Located on the South Rim, the spot affords magnificent views of the Unkar Creek area in the inner canyon. Take binoculars and try to spot rafters on the river. The vantage point also serves as a trailhead for a long and fairly easy hike popular with tourists. Always exercise caution when entering the canyon due to dangerous weather and wildlife. • Of all the places we visited at the Grand Canyon, this one will forever stay with me. My husband knows I love sunsets more than anything. We went here to watch one while at the GC and it was perfect.....  more »
  • Beautiful vista overlooking the Grand Canyon along the East Rim Drive. Very popular spot for sunset and it was beautiful although not great for photography as the canyon is in shadow and the light is....  more »

  • It is beautiful up there!
  • Lipan Point is the second to last stop on the Desert View Drive in route to the Desert View Watchtower. Here you will find relatively similar views to those seen at nearby Navajo Point. Views are excellent. However, we preferred Navajo Point as you can see the Desert View Watchtower from there. As is the case with each of the designated stops along the Desert View Drive, views of the North Rim and into the Grand Canyon are quite impressive. Each is worth making a stop to see, even if for only a few minutes. However, if you are in a hurry, we might suggest skipping Lipan Point in favour of Navajo Point for the reason mentioned above. Note: The Desert View Drive is 25 miles between the village and watchtower. Make sure to allow 2-3 hours minimum for the 50 mile round trip drive in order to adhere to the speed limit and to allow time for viewpoint stops.
  • Nice lookout point. Good parking and eat access to Tanner Tail.
  • For me the most beuatiful spot along the whole Grand Canyon. We had a BBQ here and watched the sunset in absolute silence and solitude. Magnificent.
  • Genialer Aussichtspunkt auf den Grand Canyon.
