Hopi Point, Grand Canyon National Park

Drive or take the free shuttle bus to Hopi Point for panoramic views of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. • A vertiginous promontory above the Canyon. A walk of a few tens of meters and a panorama breathtaking.

  • Pretty quickly after our top 5 points (Pima, Mohave, Maricopa, Mather, desert view), the Hopi follows point. He also offers spectacular views into the distance, but close to the other viewpoints and offers therefore nothing out of the ordinary.

  • This is by far the most expansive, amazing viewpoint in the park. It is stupendous. It’s also perfect for sunset viewing. In the winter months you can drive straight there, making it more convenient. ...  more »

  • Hopi was breathtaking! Best of all the points on the Hermit Route. You get a great view of three sides of the valley from this point. Especially beautiful about an hour before sunset until sunset.
  • Good views and much less crowded. You can take your car right to the edge of the Canyon (only during the winter months)
  • One of the better points to stop at when in the grand canyon, pretty amazing views as usual, good parking area with a bathroom
  • Stopped here on the motor coach Sunset tour. Awesome place to be at sunset. Watching the Ravens acrobatics are fun
  • Majestic. This one is probably one of the most popular view points. Gets pretty crowded. Much better and more beautiful than we've ever imagined. Just one personal comment: if/when you see pics, videos, movies don't forget that the actual colors widely vary depending on the time of the day, the weather conditions, and the season you visit. Conclusion: when you actually visit leave plenty of time to enjoy and you'll be very pleasantly surprised. Should be on the bucket list.

Where to stay in Grand Canyon National Park

You'll find plenty of options if you want to stay inside Grand Canyon National Park. Most campgrounds and lodges sit around the South Rim area, and they tend to fill up quickly for summer visits, so book as far in advance as possible. The price range for lodge accommodations varies greatly, so there's something for nearly every budget. The less-visited North Rim features one lodge. For those who hike to the bottom of the canyon, dormitories and cabins are available at Phantom Ranch. If you can't secure a place in the park or find something there to your liking, the small village near the south entrance offers inns and economy motels. You’ll have the convenience of nearby restaurants if you stay there.
