  • We stopped here on our way to another destination. The sign on the road isn't the best and we drove by it, not realizing what we'd read at first, and had to turn around. This is a self driving tour wi...  more »
  • I used to work with a former Japanese internee, and we had long conversations about her experience at a camp in California. I finally made an opportunity to visit Amache by taking the long way to Aust...  more »
  • My family stopped in on a road trip. The exit off of the highway is VERY poorly marked, basically a small sign that reads, "Camp Amache next exit" and then a small sign, be careful not to miss it! The...  more »

  • I stumbled upon this spot. I grew up in Colorado but was unaware that this internment camp existed. Not really much left at this point. Still very somber as an example of the unconstitutional treatment of ethnic Japanese US Citizens out of bigotry based fears.
  • Amache to me was a very bad mistake, and the children and senior citizens that were imprisoned there brake my heart seeing their faces. It's a great place to get out of your car and read all the signs throughout Amache, each person reading a board, while everyone else looks at the pictures as the story is read. Just standing in Amache touches your heart the more you learn about what really took place. I encourage the visitor's of Amache to do some research of your own, just to make sure the facts are right.....most likely are, but it's fun to do your own research.
  • Structures are gone, but the foundations are still there. Unique experience to be able to walk through half forgotten part of ww2
  • Important stop on our State History Tour!
  • Unbelievable history here. The high school students of Granada take good care of it.
