  • Well, this is a nice resort but if you don't have a boat or like to golf, there isn't much else to offer! And it is so isolated, you can't just go somewhere nearby for other options!
  • Beautiful. Most beautiful lake in Texas. Hells Gate should've been named Heavens Gate. Can't wait to go back. My husband and I or both kids or meet up with entire family!
  • The Cliffs is one of my top five courses in North Texas. The whole layout reminds me a lot of Northern Arizona with the elevation changes, terrain, and drier climate. #9 hole has a fantastic view of t...  read more »
  • I can not speak for the rest of the resort amenities, but I have played 4 rounds of golf this past summer. I have played all over the DFW metroplex. I have enjoyed playing here the most. This course is a nice get away. The course is challenging yet fun. The scenery is even better.
  • This resort is really just an over priced motel 6. Though the facility is very nice, nothing is convenient or accessible. Certainly not worth the $275!!! The pool isn't within walking distance, get in your car and drive to it. And bring your wetsuit, it's not heated! No hot tub or jacuzzi on site. The 2 restaurants are across the parking lot. Approximately 150 yards away from the rooms. No room service. No snack shop. No movie channels. Beautiful view from your room if you happen to pay extra for an "Elite" room. Fitness Center (Spa!! Baahaahaa) is as far away as the restaurants. Bring your walking shoes!!
  • Rooms are nice with a great lakeside view. The on site restaurant has good food too. The selection at the bar is nothing special though and the closest bar is Boondocks about 15 minutes away but it's worth the trip. I didn't golf but I hear from locals it's fantastic.
  • Golf is amazing but the package and spa didn't exist don't wast your money just book a normal room. Dinner is the same price and the upgrade for the room is less then worth it, you will have the room across from the check in desk. IF you book a package and it has dinner included understand it is on you to make reservations not the staff and if you don't you will be like my wife and I were on Valentines night sitting in the corner of the bar hoping we got severed. This was our best option after being sat outside in the 40 degree weather freezing.
  • Played the course for the first time ever and it happened to be in 30 mph wind. I've played a lot of courses and this one was definitely very tough. Actually Brutally tough in the winter turf conditions and wind. As brutal as it was it was equally as beautiful with all of the views on a lot of the holes. We took our time and enjoyed it. One thing that makes it so tough if you are looking to score is that you have quite a few blind tee shots to landing areas and playing it for the first time you have no idea what is beyond the target areas without driving from tee to green before teeing off. With dormant Bermuda rough along the fairways and dormant hard fairways, your ball has no chance of stopping. You almost have to play some sort of "bunt" game in such conditions to keep blind tee shots from hitting the fairway and going into a place where you will never see the ball again. Still enjoyed playing out there and will definitely go back when things are green. The gentleman in the Proshop was very nice and very accommodating as well.
