  • After reading about and hearing about Samuel Hill, I included Maryhill Art Museum in my itinerary. What a pleasant surprise! This impressive building is the jewel of the 5,300 acres situated along the...  more »
  • We got to the Museum without high expectations, we think it's just a collection of local historic interest, however. What was our extraordinary surprise check the wealth of the place, worthy of a great Center, this combined with an extraordinary view Columbia River Canyon. On the first floor, left wing, there are 80 sculptures and drawings by none other than ... Auguste Rodin!!! Unbelievable ... the result of an affair with an American artist, who donated the works to this museum. On the right wing, a stunning collection of artifacts of native Americans, from all regions, including the Eskimos of Alaska. There are also prehistoric artifacts, with rocks with petroglyphs that you can play! On the second floor, objects donated by Queen Marie of Romania, in the 19th and 20th centuries: dresses, Throne chairs, coroa...de breathtaking! There are also parts which refer to the creator of the Museum, a visionary who desbravava regions with highways at the beginning of the 20th century, in the USA, Europe and Asia. Finally, on the third floor, mannequins in small size with garments of the Theatre de la Mode, wealth of details and a lot of beauty. In addition, underground toward the cafeteria, chess sets from various parts of the world, Rico in materials, colors, design. Being near Portland, Oregon, highly recommended visit.

  • I happened on to this museum by accident. It sits above the Columbia Gorge and is a beautiful house . Sam Hill was a mover and shaker in this area. The museum has several small Rodin sculptures, sever...  more »

  • It's really an amazing place with an impressive collection of fine art. From Romania, Native American as well as the finest Rodin collection you'll find. The experimental highway is neat as is the replica of stonehenge war memorial. All this to see in a beautiful setting and views of the Columbia River and My. Hood. I highly recommend the museum to anyone who appreciates art or enjoys adventure! The cost vs experience that's available there is phenomenal! I hope all enjoy it as much as I do!
  • Discrimination against service animal. I stopped by to visit on my way back from Stonehedge Memorial with my niece and my cousin. I was told "we don't do dogs." The employee was incredibly disrespectful even though my dog is my service animal. That increased my anxiety and will never visit again even without my dog. I have never felt so discriminated against. I saw another dog go in and they allowed that dog. Thanks to the employee, I expressed my disatisfaction to all my friends and family so they know that people are discriminated against there if they have disabilities.
  • Quite the enjoyable experience with art and artifacts spanning from Native American items to items all over Europe. Furthermore history of the Columbia River Highway was cool. However the icing on the cake was the Théâtre de la Mode and chess pieces around the world exhibits. Definitely something one should experience if interested in this type of stuff.
  • Beautiful gardens, incredible historic monarchy artifacts, plus the history of Oregon highway along the Columbia river it's fascinating. The view of the Columbia-gorge valley is incredible. Take time to grab a snack at the cafe and enjoy the view.
  • Filled with great history of our area! And the views are magnificent!
