  • We were a group of 10. This was a nice surprise for us To see the history of this castle and it's magisty. There were surprises in every room. Dr Hammond was an amazing man well beyond his years in in...  read more »
  • Visited with friends local sight, allegedly a medieval castle, which was built sometime between 1926-1929 and partially assembled from elements of the 14-15-16 centuries, amateur project and inventor John Hammond. Of course, this is a quasi-medieval, but what an invention! Especially eavesdroppers ceiling in the library, where guests were resting after supper, and the master under the pretext of a slight hiatus could climb above and listen to conversations about yourself, or rooms where hard and sometimes impossible to find the front door. Of course, it's jokes, but sometimes a Jesuit. But the identity of the person shakes apprentice Thomas Èdissona, 467 patents, founder and developer of remote control and all one man! A great lover of cats. I was wondering!

  • Unfortunately the castle was closed except for weekends which weren't addressed in the website at least in October. The place was pretty cool from the outside but that's all I got nice views
  • Beautiful place on the sea - it's a wonder there are not more windows open to the view! This place is unique and elegant. The photos you can take are as if from a fairytale. - All but 1 room is very small for a large group so make sure to stay back to take photos or re-visit the rooms after the tour. During the Candlelight tours, it is possible for bats to enter rooms as windows and doors are left open. The tour can be paranormal activity focused at some points.
  • Absolutely fantastic experience at a great price. For us Midwesterners, imagine House on the Rock, except with far more ancient (but equally eclectic) styles. Try to get a free guided tour after buying the regular admission ticket, the guides know all of Mr Hammond's famous pranks and the secrets around the castle. Sadly the pipe organ no longer works. I only wish I could see every single room in the place! Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
  • 4 stars because it is a beatiful castle with magnificent views. But to view alot of the castle you need to pay for a tour.
  • Very cool place. Learn about the eccentric Mr. Hammond and his dream to build a castle. His collection is so eclectic and wonderful. This place is magical, something interesting around every corner. Gardens are gorgeous. Great place to bring your kids.
  • This is a review of the outside of the castle and grounds only (since it is always closed when I end up there). The grounds are stunning - and well maintained. There is not a very large area to explore, but there is plenty to see in it and it offers some great views out over the water.
