Good Harbor Beach, Gloucester
(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Check out sandy Good Harbor Beach, known as one of the cleanest beaches in the area. Bordered by greenery, the beach also features a small island that's reachable by foot when the tide is low and a picturesque peninsula with charming villas overlooking the sea. Head out for a swim in the clear ocean waters, lie in the sun with a drink by your side, or rent a boogie board on site and hit the waves. With a very gentle seafloor drop, the site is suitable for families with children and for nonswimmers. The beach has a snack bar and restrooms. • A must visit when at Bass Rocks Inn. A nice healthy walk from hotel, quiet and somewhat secluded. Beautiful scenery
  • We stopped at Good Harbor Beach while exploring on the North Shore. Good Harbor is a beautiful beach! Since we visited in the off season, there were 3 cars in the parking lot, having no trouble findin...  more »
  • A simple, uncluttered beach, surrounded by craggy rocks and very expensive, but picturesque homes perched on the rocks above. The tides are huge, so be aware of that.

  • Beach is great for everyone! White, soft, clean sand. The water is clean and have and some strong awesome waves... Bring boogie boards and have fun in the surf. The side by the bridge is where the bigger waves are or If you're interested in surfing this is the spot to test it out. There's a snack bar and they have pizza burgers drinks etc. There are locker room, and there are showers to rinse off. It's trash in, trash out, so be prepared for that. Parking is $20/car on popular days--the lot fills up and there are lifeguards.
  • My favorite New England by far. If you're a Gloucester resident, it's free with the pass issued by the city, but if you live out of town (like me) it's $25 to park each visit. I think it's worth a visit at least 2-3 times a month in the summer though, regardless of price. It's so clean and beautiful. The waves are fun and there's also a nice little snack shack at the beginning of the boardwalk.
  • I believe that GHB is the best beach in MA, certainly on the North Shore. With it's breath taking views, fun waves and the legendary creek (a natural "lazy river"), its a great take. That said a couple of important notes: Sometimes (not every year) Green Heads appear, especially near the Dunes. Bring bug spray in late July early August. If the beach is deserted (maybe on a grey day) the Seagulls get desperate. I saw someone's slice of pizza literally taken out of their mouth! There are no trash recepticles (except near the large snack bar), bring your trash home!
  • Beautiful sandy beach with great views and lots of space. My family good multiple times every year. Fun to walk out to the nearby island on low tide. It does get crowded especially around the fourth of July weekend, so make sure you get there early or parking might already be full. Parking prices feel a little steep at $30 on the weekend. Would also be nice if they had another bathroom at the far end of the beach. Keep your flip flops with you if you walk across the beach cause the sand gets brutally hot.
  • I loved the waves there! Water was nice and clean. I'm from the Caribbean, so I found the water a bit cold. But, once you're in; it's all good! What awesome creation of God! My fiancĂ©e Sony St. Hubert and I had a great time there. :) The only thing that was missing wad some restaurants.
