  • It is a great place if you know what you are getting into but unfortunately the website and staff are not informative. The basic cabins are beautiful and secluded but to get there YOU NEED A 4x4 DRIVE OR SUV bc it's up a 1.5 mile rough dirt road. The staff/owners were not very present or accommodating and while they said there was a bathhouse, only the toilets and sink worked. The views are stunning, it is very peaceful, and the cabins are very basic but nice. Just either be prepared to hike in 1.5 miles or have a vehicle that is cut out or you will be at the mercy of the owners driving you back and forth and they are not flexible or accommodating. Oh and VRBO says that there are solar panels with USB ports, that is non existent.
  • We rented the Elk Lodge here for $500 a night plus tax for a night. SO I am only writing about their night accommodation here. The other activities maybe something better, but DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a good night of sleep! We were hoping for something relaxing, and nice, far away but yet close enough to the two. We were told they're about 12 miles from downtown Glenwood Springs. To be honest, we were scared out there with just us and young babies. For $500 a night we did expected a little bit more that what we got. What was advertised on their website was different than what we got. -No TV/ Satelite was not working. Owner said it broke that winter and haven't got a chance to fix it. I guess, ok fine, we aren't here to watch TV anyways but it'd be nice to have since you said you had it. -No Cell Phone signal -Very far from the main road, at least 5-6 miles up the ROUGH dirt road on the hills. Not easily to leave in and out, we were told they are about 12 miles from Glenwood Springs, but we weren't told that our room would be that far from the main road. So DO NOT bring nice car! -We never received the towels we requested,. -The rooms were dusty. -We were up all night because carbon monoxide detector in one of the room with the double kept going off all night. It really beeped all night. We basically just got up and move to the open/fresh air. This was about 12:30am. We really didn't want to drive down in the dark to come find you, but we cannot call anyone because we DID NOT have a cell phone signal. We waited 30 minutes to check out, but nobody was at the front desk, finally we decided to leave and waited min on the bridge to just get out of the property because the gate was broken. The guests in front of us who were visiting from Utah waited 1 and half hour before someone finally came to let us out. Again, I am writing about my experience, which was not a good one for us, but the attitude we got when we mentioned all these things made it even worst, "we are not here to try to compete with hotels, so you shouldn't expect the same accommodation" was pretty much what they told us. It may not be the same accommodation, but the friendliness and customer service should be similar. NO? I guess NOT.
