Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, Glenwood Springs

#2 of 80 in Spas in Colorado
The world’s largest hot springs pool, Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, has been a haven for spa-goers in the Rockies for over a century. The grounds’ sandstone bathhouse has been completely renovated with the Western spirit of the Rockies in mind to promote serenity between visitors and their natural surroundings. If you are craving some physical activity, you can swim laps in the deep end or hit the diving board. If you prefer to relax, simply sit back in the soothing minerals of the site's therapy pool, which is constantly kept at approximately 40 C (104 F). You can also stay at the spa's 107-room lodge, which offers mini golf and a childrens pool, in additional to its all-natural healing pools. • Glenwood Hot Springs is truly a unique and memorable place enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. Especially on a day when there is a chill in the air and the steam rises, it can seem like heaven on earth. If you have pain, this is a place where your joints will ache less and you feel relaxation overcome you. There are two pools - one hotter therapy pool for adults and another slightly cooler pool perfect for the family, lap swimming, or long-term soaking. There is also a diving board at the very end of the cooler pool. Don't cut through the lap lanes though - there are ladders right before them. A few tips: -Some people seem to think they need to bring a water bottle into the pool (a fad over the past few years) - there is no need for this! If you are in the hot pool long enough to need it, you were in too long! -Kids should NEVER spend any significant time in the therapy pool. This pool is meant for adults, not child-size bodies and permanent harm can occur. There is nothing wrong with kids dangling their toes in though while their parents enjoy a (free for now) bubble chair massage! -Bring extra money if you come during the summer season. There are slides for the kids and a snack bar.
  • Absolutely beautiful pools and views. Cannot wait to go back next year. Enjoyed the atmosphere and mountains that surrounded the hot springs. Pools were clean and well kept overall. Life guards were not needed during my visit but were attentive when questions were asked of them. Purchasing a pass to enter gives you access to the entire day, you may enter and leave as much as you'd like. Colorado is beautiful and these hot springs are adding to the beauty.
  • We brought our kids here for a break from skiing while vacationing in Aspen-Snowmass. What a treat! The Springs are positively luxurious! It's a surreal experience to be soaking in hot mineral water at the base of two beautiful mountains in the middle of the Colorado winter. Family-friendly and very clean. Lifeguards on duty. Nice staff, as well. Highly recommend!
  • Super love this place!!! Its a 5 hr drive, but well worth it.. People are friendly, and nice to talk to. Kids make friends and have a blast together. I've been coming here since I was 3 months old. The only down side is the gift shop is super pricey, almost everything was a $100 or more; their crazy!!!! It would also be nice to have some water toys for the kids.. All in all, great trip, beautiful views.
  • One of our favorite vacation spots. Both of the pools are huge so you can always find some privacy. A little pricy but it is for the entire day and you can get your hands stamps so you can come and go all day. They also rent swim suits and towels in case you forget yours, or just want to go for a dip while passing through. Their locker rooms are clean and offer quarter operated lockers. They have a large group showing area but also have private showers too.

Where to stay in Glenwood Springs

Most of the places to stay in Glenwood Springs sit within walking distance of the Colorado River. The hot springs pool lies on the north bank of the river, as do many of the town's hotels. Most of the town, however, is on the south bank of the river, so choose a place here for better access to local services and entertainment. Accommodations in town range from bed and breakfasts to historical hotels to resorts. You'll also find numerous national chain hotels and vacation rentals in condominiums and private homes. If you're looking to ski at Aspen and stay in Glenwood Springs as a less-expensive lodging alternative, inquire at local hotels about accommodation-and-lift-ticket packages.
