  • Doc Holliday may be my biggest historical crush and I felt it necessary to pay homage at his grave when traveling through the area. The hike was much easier than expected (if you fairly fit it should ...  more »
  • got about half way up before it became impassible. and this is in a low snow year/La Nina. We may try again in warmer temps, but i do not recommend it for winter weather  more »
  • The cemetery is about a half mile or more up hill. The hike is okay, but definitely considered a hike. The trail was covered in snow when I went and it was tricky going up and down. The views are awes...  more »

  • Nice little trail that ends with you being able to see both Doc Holliday and Kid Curry’s tombstones. Interesting look at Glenwood Springs first cemetery. There is no parking lot so on the side of the road. There are a couple trash cans available at both the beginning and end of the trail. No bathroom access. If there is snow on the ground, bring you yaktrax, it can get slick.
  • This was a nice short hike and easy for kids. If you enjoy the history of old grave yards then I think you would enjoy visiting this small grave yard and it has beautiful scenery.
  • Awesome place. In addition to Doc, there are graves from mid to late 1800's. Nice and shaded to explore around. Hike is a bit uphill but if you're moderately in shape, it shouldn't be a problem.
  • It was on our way home so we made it a stop along the way. It was a nice shot hike, just perfect for getting out the kids wiggles. We hiked, we enjoyed. It was a view worth seeing.
  • Doc Holliday is such a legend and his resting place is just as special. Due to the fact he was such an outlaw, no one actually marked his grave to prevent grave robbing. His headstone lies as a reminder of the life he lead and the impact he had on the town of Glenwood among many other Colorado cities. The view down the canyon is beautiful making the short hike up hill worth it. It is truly a boot hill and worth making the trek to see a piece of the history of the west.

Where to stay in Glenwood Springs

Most of the places to stay in Glenwood Springs sit within walking distance of the Colorado River. The hot springs pool lies on the north bank of the river, as do many of the town's hotels. Most of the town, however, is on the south bank of the river, so choose a place here for better access to local services and entertainment. Accommodations in town range from bed and breakfasts to historical hotels to resorts. You'll also find numerous national chain hotels and vacation rentals in condominiums and private homes. If you're looking to ski at Aspen and stay in Glenwood Springs as a less-expensive lodging alternative, inquire at local hotels about accommodation-and-lift-ticket packages.
