Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, Glacier National Park

4.7
#5 of 20 in Nature in Glacier National Park
National Park Nature / Park
combines Glacier National Park in the United States with Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, forming one giant landscape of high mountains, glaciers, thick forests, and expansive prairies. Drive scenic roads as you search for wildlife, such as moose, bison, bighorn sheep, and bears throughout the 4,556 sq km (1,720 sq mi) park. You can take part in hiking, biking, and fishing in summer and snowshoeing, skiing, and snowmobiling in winter. The landscape is similar in both national parks, but Waterton Lakes remains the less busy of the two. Customs officials are stationed at the Chief Mountain border crossing, so make sure you have the proper documents if you plan to visit both parks. • And across the border in car hire 7/2017, visit Glacier National Park, and Waterton National Park is visited on a day trip. Road on the United States side chiefmountain Hwy, Canada side, known as the Alberta Hwy6 bloom flowers of various colors, such as red and yellow purple white on the roadside near the border, and was a very scenic road. Less traffic, and pre-orders are almost no wait at the checkpoint. However cattle have been grazing on the United States side, or walking on the road, and sleep in the grass on the side of the road, there was a need to keep in mind during the driving. Clipped trees border the United States and Canada, but looks like a single line, where bears and deer and wildlife come freely, but only humans will, mysterious feeling to have Passport and luggage check. There are several places on the Canada side, unnaturally several cars parked on the side of the road, its proximity to always bear in the wild. Like animals haunts parking was not encountered in the United States side. Say, Waterton-Glacier National Park across the border as possible within the Park pristine, and so I felt the difference between the United States and the Canada side to improve the convenience of tourists, little, there is a neat hotel or Waterton village.

Where to stay in Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park offers a wealth of accommodation options right inside the park. You can stake a tent in one of the campgrounds or choose from a handful of rustic lodges and chalets. Rooms fill up quickly at these, so make reservations as far in advance as possible (up to a year ahead). A few inns, motels, and lodges sit around the St. Mary's Lakes by the park's northeast boundary, but staying in Whitefish on the western side is a better choice if you prefer to be in a Montana mountain town. Here you'll find homey inns and lodges, economy motels, and a wide range of restaurants. You'll find additional inns and motels as you drive east along Route 2 toward the park's entrance.
