Virginia Falls, Glacier National Park

Create an itinerary including Virginia Falls
One of the most impressive waterfalls in Glacier National Park, Virginia Falls plunges from the height of 15 m (50 ft) against the side of a multi-tiered cliff. Passing several other chutes along the way, the scenic hike to the falls is an attraction in its own right. Half way through you'll come across the photogenic St. Mary Falls, cascading into bluish green pools. Once you tackle the last steepest section of the trail leading to the base of the main falls, you'll be able to feel the blast of refreshingly cold spray that will cool you down even on the hottest summer day. Watch your step on the slippery rocks. • Virginia Falls is big enough to be viewed from GTTS road, across the valley, yet is definitely worth getting closer to, as is St. Mary Falls! The trail does require good shoes or well-fitting sandals, yet is otherwise fairly tame. You will travel through forest, over rock, up stairs, and across a couple bridges. There are a couple of stopp8ng points along the way, as well as a split where you can get another view of Virginia Falls or continue on to a privy if need to go.
  • Love the hikes through the woods, not as busy as other trails but is a decent hike. Plus you get to pass St. Marys falls and a few other small falls along the way. Like all places in Glacier there's not enough parking at the trail head (St. Marys).
  • Another mile or so from saint mary falls and well worth it. Several falls along the way up that we stopped and got some punctures at and played in. There‚Äôs a toilet along the way with no toilet paper when we went.
  • This was a great hike and a great falls with beautiful scenery every direction I looked. Be sure to head down every side trail or you will likely miss a great pic. Some of the views required a little sure footed work. Take something warmer for the top as the temp drops quite a bit.
  • The falls is towering. The hike to the falls is beautiful and not crowded. You can visit the falls up close. Be prepared to get wet by the sprays. Most people stop at St Mary's falls and not go beyond that. It's a about a mile from St Mary's falls and visiting this falls is highly recommended.
