Virginia Falls, Glacier National Park

One of the most impressive waterfalls in Glacier National Park, Virginia Falls plunges from the height of 15 m (50 ft) against the side of a multi-tiered cliff. Passing several other chutes along the way, the scenic hike to the falls is an attraction in its own right. Half way through you'll come across the photogenic St. Mary Falls, cascading into bluish green pools. Once you tackle the last steepest section of the trail leading to the base of the main falls, you'll be able to feel the blast of refreshingly cold spray that will cool you down even on the hottest summer day. Watch your step on the slippery rocks. • I will start by saying I was winded at the end, but that's a small price to pay for beauty of the falls and the walk getting to them. This is a really open trail most of the way, with wildflowers scat...  more »

  • Virginia Falls is just a short hike from St. Mary's falls, and it is so worth it! The water fall is about 50 feet high and probably one of the most stunning waterfalls in the park. Total round-trip length is about 3.6 miles with a slight elevation change. Make sure you get here extremely early though, or take the shuttle because it can get very very busy. Also, watch your step at the falls because the wet rocks can be quite slippery. You will probably get wet too, but it's wonderful on a hot day.
  • a 3 mile hike in but sooooo worth it. You will get wet but the view is amazing,
  • Simply amazing! Well worth the trip.
  • This is a hidden jam of Glaciers! It was well worth of 1.8 miles of hike each way. You would enjoy gorgeous views going up to Virginia falls! Parking is a but difficult. Ensure you can be at St. Mary's parking lot by 9 am, otherwise no luck! NPS employee recommended us to take the shuttle from Rising Sun instead. However, we preferred driving! We saw some wildlife on the trail mainly deers. Ensure you carry bear spray! Virginia falls is worth a stretch from Mary's falls!
  • Worth the hike
