  • Plan ahead and hit the trail. It's not difficult, but takes a bit of patience to hike the ~20 miles round trip or so from Swiftcurrent to Iceberg and back. You'll see amazing valleys, vistas, flowers,...  more »

  • Was at Iceberg Lake in early June. Very few people provided a special experience. The upper trail was frozen and snowed over. Spent our lunch watching a family of mountain goats walk the ridge above us.
  • Phenomenal lake! Very surreal and absolutely amazing. The water is freezing but it is worth a quick stand in the water after the long hike. This hike has a TON of elevation gain. A lot of it you are in trees, but it is so worth it. I recommend combining this with the tunnel hike if you are a crazy hiker like me. Oh, there is a pit toilet nearby, unless it is an absolute emergency, stay far away. Pretty gross.
  • Long hike, but worth while. Beautiful meadow of flowers and great views of the valleys. A must see at Glacier National Park
  • I live down at 450 ft MSL and this hike starts at around 5,000 MSL and climbs slowly to just over 6,000 ft over a distance of about 5 miles to the lake. I found it a bit tiring due to it being high altitude for me and I had only been in the area for two days and was not yet acclimatized. In my opinion however, it was well worth it. I went with a few friends and, once we got to the lake, we spent nearly two hours there enjoying the stunning scenery. We visited just after the summer holidays a few weeks ago (2017) and there were not many people there which made it even better. The beauty was spectacular as well as a number of views along the way.
  • This was my favorite trail in the park with a grand destination (for a comparison I also hiked the Highline Trail, Hidden Lake, Avalanche Lake, and Virginia Falls). I saw a couple of deer within the first quarter mile. The trail starts off with a bit of a climb, but it doesn't last long. The trail had lots of great views including: mountain views, small streams, forest, meadows and lots of wildflowers. I completed the trail during the second week of August and the lake still had plenty of icebergs. I'd recommend taking a light jacked to wear at the lake along with a snack or lunch. The trail took us all day, but could be done quicker.
