Visit Shriver House Museum to learn the story of the Civil War's Battle of Gettysburg through the lives of the Shriver family. The home has been restored to its 1860's appearance. You'll get an authentic look at how the battle affected the lives of the civilians of Gettysburg. Hettie Shriver, fearing for the safety of her young daughters, went to stay at the family's farm out of town, where some of the worst fighting took place. Guides in period clothing recount how Confederate soldiers quickly seized the empty house to set up a sharpshooter's nest. Notice the civil war bullets, some of which were still live when found in the attic in 1996. Discover how to plan a Gettysburg trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

  • Amazing tour and guide! 10/10 would recommend. It was a surprise last minute stop for us and the best part of visiting Gettysburg. I want to give a shout-out to Lisa, the tour guide. She answered all our questions, was so informative, and made the experience enjoyable.
  • Miss Gayle is FANTASTIC. We literally just left the tour and had the most wonderfully enlightening experience. She was very knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts. My husband can read a book and absorb anything but I have difficulty remembering facts like that. I retained everything she shared. I WISH I had had her as a history teacher, she is absolutely fantastic!!! Thank you!!!!
  • Awesome experience into history. Tour (July 2) was so interesting and actors were amazing. Thanks to the entire staff for making it so enjoyable. This is definitely a must see.
  • Excellent museum that does a great job in depicting civilian life during the battle. Our tour guide was wonderful (ex history teacher) and very entertaining. Highly recommend.
  • The Shriver House is a wonderful experience! The home is beautifully restored and historically accurate. Nancie and her guides tell the family's story with love and compassion.
