Gettysburg Diorama, Gettysburg

Gettysburg Diorama puts before you the whole battle that shaped American history. The incredibly detailed scale model of the battlefield includes more than 20,000 handpainted soldiers, horses, and artillery pieces. The town of Gettysburg, along with its surrounding woods and fields, is recreated to perfectly depict the scene where the famous Civil War battle took place in 1863. You can learn how the battle progressed, hear the stories about generals George Meade and Robert E. Lee, and see clearly how the terrain influenced the troop movements and the outcome. Light and sound effects enhance the experience and make different aspects of the battle easier to understand. • We got there two minutes before 5 and the young lady refused to start the tape. She did however, allow us to view the diorama. Very dusty! Not the best diorama I have seen, not the worst.  more »

  • The diorama was phenomenal. It is massive and the show is great. The lights point out all the areas of the map in the order the battle was fought over three days. A lot of time and love went into the creation of it and overall I would say it is well done historically. The narrator can drone on a wee bit, and I did lose myself in the names of all the generals, but I was able to catch up quickly. Fair warning, there are some strobe lights in there that may affect some people. I enjoyed the artifacts they had and the giftshop is great for souvenirs for the friends. Would recommend visiting.
  • The size of the Diorama is mind blowing. For anyone not a history buff it's a great visualization with narrative on the events that took place. Very informative for anyone not able to do the walking tour.
  • The replica that made up the battlefield was truly amazing. The facts about the three day battle were very well organized, but the delivery of the story was agonizing. My husband and I were so bored that although we enjoyed the history, we left before it had finished. To me the shop was just full of junk to separate a fool from his money.
  • The diorama was incredible. So much information and detail was put into the full piece. The Spirit of Gettysburg downstairs wasn't what we were expecting. It was a bit of a haunted walk with some history thrown in.
  • Dated but so worth it. The bird's eye view is great and the story is very educational. Very neat to see the battle day to day. Don't miss this gem! Visited July 2016
