  • The teahouse was excellent. We loved the minted lemonade! The manor house has original architecture and woodwork, though the furniture dates from later eras. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, able to answer many questions. The video presentations in one of the slave cabins are worth watching, before or after your tour.
  • It's not often that you can find pre civil war plantations like this. Most were looted and burned after the war. This is a wonderful piece of history. There is a retired couple living in the home but they make it available to tours. A very neat tour describing how the rice fields came to be the local cash crop after the indigo crop demand disappeared once the British stopped buying it to dye their blue navy uniforms. The cafe there was delicious! Had some gumbo on top of Carolina Gold Rice, the same kind of rice that was grown on this plantation a century ago.
  • We were given a gift certificate from my children so we felt compelled to visit this place. We are so glad we did. A wonderful tour, a gorgeous place and a good opportunity to learn about a time that ended abruptly during the Civit War. We had a very good tour leader. I will go back to this place and do some painting along the river. A nice place to hang out.
  • This plantation is fascinating. The owners live on the property and allow for tours in the home. The tea room has food that is top notch and the Gin Gin soup is out of this world amazing!! Ms. Vera comes and teaches sweet grass basket weaving and is extremely interesting. Spend the day there, you won't want to leave. Love this place!!!! Definite 5 star PLUS!!
  • Found the plantation on line while looking for places along 17 in South Carolina to tour. We happened to be traveling on a Thursday and got to take the basket weaving class as well a tour and lunch. It was all a great experience.
